Stray Souls Are Creeping Into Your Homes Out There

Stray Souls

The launch of Stray Souls is here and there is a new bit of Halloween fun in the mix for Stray Souls launching out there

Get your spirit boards ready and all of your other ghost-hunting gear cleaned up, Stray Souls is about to launch out there. On October 25th for those needing an exact date for it all and on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Just in time for the Halloween horror to fill us all up again. I am sure that was part of the plan from Jukai Studio with this one. Along with the various other plans that Stray Souls has for us over the weekend of horror that is hitting at the end of this week. Although, I am sure that the video game is going to be the bigger highlight of it all when all is said and done. As long as you can handle all of the gore and scares it has to offer up to us.

While the launch of Stray Souls is the bigger news, I would be remiss if I did not mention that there is some other cross-promotional stuff going on for the game. That is the name of the business game here and this one does feel as if it would fall right in line with a ghost-hunting series that is out there. So, to get us all ready for Stray Souls to launch, there is a new episode of Ghost Files out there that features the game in the mix. An interesting choice since I am not aware that anything in the game is based on something that could be hunted or found out there in the real world, but I could be wrong. That does not mean that there is not, at least, some kind of entertainment that could be had with it all as we wait for the real spooks to come out in the coming days.

Stray Souls — Launch Trailer

Jukai Studio and Versus Evil, one of the leading independent video game publishers, announced that its mystery-driven psychological horror game Stray Souls, which is coming to PC, PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox Series S|X on October 25th, has been featured in a new episode of the successful paranormal YouTube series, Ghost Files, out today.

Ghost Files is Watcher’s popular YouTube paranormal investigation series, running since 2022 and featuring previous Buzzfeed Unsolved hosts Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej as they search haunted locations for ghostly activities. In the Stray Souls crossover episode, the hosts conduct their first private home investigation for the show. Utilizing some of the same tactics Daniel uses in the game, the Ghoul Boys attempt to make contact with the spirits who haunt both the home and the Duyck family.

Dive into the mind of Daniel, a teenage boy who inherits a home from his estranged grandmother. As he moves in, Daniel meets the enigmatic Martha who knows more about the house than he would expect. As night falls, dark secrets hiding within the dwelling and Daniel’s past come out of the woodwork - secrets Daniel cannot seem to outrun…

Stray Souls combines beloved elements of Japanese survival horror games with an array of new tricks, including a variety of randomized systems where enemy encounters, item placement, paranormal activity, and even weather patterns are always changing so no two playthroughs are exactly the same. Using the power of Metahuman technology and Unreal Engine 5, characters and environments are authentically brought to life, throwing you straight into the dread and dismay of the narrative.

Stray Souls will launch this Halloween on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Key Features:

  • Explore the town of Aspen Falls and surrounding areas to uncover a malevolent plot set in motion at Daniel’s birth.
  • Immerse yourself in Daniel’s story. Choose responses at key moments through branching dialogue options, shaping Daniel’s tone and personality.
  • Fight hordes of nasty creatures or run for your life. Simplified combat without massive load-outs puts the focus on strategizing combat tactics and resource management.
  • Solve dozens of clever puzzles with out-of-the-box solutions to test your wit.
  • Randomized systems ensure that enemy encounters, item locations, changing weather patterns, and strange phenomena all occur at various places, making each playthrough unique.

I do fully understand the need to do promotions like this and do not knock anyone behind Stray Souls for doing this, but it is not something that would sell me on the game. I am by no means a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal, but I have also never met a single group that is not out there doing what the screaming "Let's Play" YouTubers do. You know, get over dramatic over nothing because it makes the masses feel stronger and smarter than they normally are. I am sure that Stray Souls is going to have many streams out there where the players are going to do the same thing, but at least they are not trying to package it up as something else as the "investigators" try to do. I will get off that soap box now…

Are you ready to dig into the horrors that Stray Souls has for us all or does it look too scary for you? Would it be interesting to see a game built around some proven ghost hauntings out there or do you like to have it all be close enough that it can be explained away? Why do you enjoy listening to humans scream and make a big deal over a few minor flashing lights and sounds? Let us all know those thoughts down in the comments and then discuss it all as you so wish. there is more to come for Stray Souls, so please keep on checking in here for it all. Even if we will not be blowing out your eardrums screaming into a microphone to entertain you like a circus monkey.
