Silent Hill
The premiere of Silent Hill: Ascension is almost here and we get to see two more families try to survive the horrors of Silent Hill
In two weeks, on October 31st, Silent Hill: Ascension will give us all the horror we have been waiting for on Halloween. Well, that is the hope as we have only had teases for the experience from Genvid up to now, but things are looking promising. We will not truly know if this is all going to pay off for us until we get into the mix of it. However, I am staying hopeful that this will be a fun new addition to the Silent Hill IP and not just a way for some out there to milk it more while giving us nothing else to love. Something that could be shifting opinions with the latest trailer to build the hype up for the premiere of this new experience yet to come.
If you have not pre-registered for Silent Hill: Ascension, I would recommend doing that or getting the main website bookmarked for now. Especially since we have a look at a bit of the story that is coming as we see two families going through the mix of things in the most Silent Hill way. One of them in Pennsylvania and another in Norway. An interesting take on things with the supernatural element of the town most likely being the link between all of them. If not more as we see another cult in the world doing their thing out there and most likely the bigger reason these two families are going through it all. Even if I thought the original idea behind it all was something a bit more personal for the characters in the first place…
Silent Hill: Ascension — Premiere
Experience the live series premiere on October 31st at 9pm ET / 6pm PT. Available on the App Store, Google Play, and the web at Ascension.com
The Hernandez family plummets into chaos as another death shakes their decimated rust-belt town in Pennsylvania. In a dying fishing village in Norway, the uneasy peace of the Johansen family is upended when their matriarch, Ingrid, dies under suspicious circumstances. Survival depends on them overcoming their darkest impulses and the machinations of a cult, as they discover the horror that connects them.
Every day, your choices and the actions of millions will shape the story and determine its final outcome. Redemption, suffering, or damnation? YOU decide.
While it is still set that we will get to decide how the events of Silent Hill: Ascension play out, this kind of trailer does lead me to think that the whole narrative and branches have been defined by the studio already. That is, them claiming to not know how it will end up being a bit of a fib. You cannot put all of that production into a thing like this and have it be fully open-ended. That would require some live actors and massive adlibbing every day to truly pull off. That does not lower my excitement for Silent Hill: Ascension, just something worth noting as the marketing and hype are trying to build something that fans might rebel against once they peek behind the curtain. We will see soon, though.
Do you think this is all going to play into the bigger story of Silent Hill in the best way or just a way to keep the IP alive for now? Is it odd to have the two families be so far apart or is that something the supernatural side will explain here? How much of the story is already written with us not having much of an impact or could it have had so many branches already that we can truly change the whole thing as the masses are going to want? Head to the comments and fight it all out as you so wish to do. There is more for Silent Hill: Ascension on the way and we will do what we can to cover each new bit. Keep on checking back here for all of those updates and everything else we can share with you for this.
