Spider-Man is getting a vastly larger playground and extras in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

With just over a month from the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, get ready to see a whole lot of new things spin out there for the game. October 20^th is going to have the webheads back over the streets of New York and this time Insomniac Games is going all-in on giving a massive experience. Some of this we already knew when the announcement for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 first dropped, but now, we get to see it in action. Specifically, how large the city of New York is going to be and how well it is going to look once we load it up on the PS5. Massive feels like it could be a bit of an understatement for now, though…

If you have not heard before, the map in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is going to be about twice as large as we have seen in the past titles in the line. Not just because of the name of the game, but more in line with the fact this one is trying to showcase all of the power the console can offer up. That and to give us Queens and Brooklyn to move about in the game as either character we will have control over. Although it sounds like sometimes we will have to play as a specific Spider-Man in the game to complete missions or do some of the side events in the game. This makes sense given the vast difference between the two characters and that one will be more of a local hero in one location than the other. Since we can swap between them almost seamlessly, though, this sounds like it will be a fun new bit of gameplay to explore out there in the game.

Speaking of, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 looks to have a lot more for us to do in these massive maps which means we need to have some other ways to get around. The swinging mechanics have been further improved, but it also looks like the web wings will allow for some other modes of movement to get across everything much faster. I am guessing it will also be needed to head to areas where there are fewer tall buildings for us to swing from too. Even if it would always be nice to have the Bruce Campbell blimp floating around to solve that problem. Even if that would distract from the various other things we need to keep an eye out for in the world with Spider-Man. Things that will be in-game clues that there is something to find or an event to handle in the game. A nice touch even if many of us will just go to use the phone app to make sure we complete each district.

All of these new improvements for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are definitely amping up the excitement for the game over here. We did not even touch on the different suits we will be able to don in the game and it sounds like we might have even more villains in there than we expected. At least ones that might not have been announced as of yet. That was a fun little find in the last titles out there, and I am sure that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have just that in the mix. Now if only there was a way to speed up the time here to get to the release date already. I do not want to have anything else spoiled before I can swing on out into this version of New York to see what other fun is hidden out there. You know there is going to be a whole lot of Easter Eggs to find too.
