Pikmin
New gameplay for Pikmin 4 has been shown off and we get to see just what this Pikmin title will offer out there in the world
New gameplay for Pikmin 4 is out there now after the most recent Nintendo Direct we had. New gameplay that shows off how well the game is going to run on the Switch when it lands on July 21st as well as gameplay that highlights some of the new features and elements we have yet to experience in a Pikmin. This is not just going to be an expansion of the exploration but so much more we will have to experience. Without any further ado, let us dive in and see what we are about to get ourselves into when the next month comes and goes. Not much time and yet so much to take in for it all.
The core gameplay for Pikmin 4 is about the same as we have seen in every other title so far. So, we will skip over that for now unless you really need a refresher that you will be going out to find the creatures and use them to get around the world. Instead, let us have a look at Oatchi who will also be out there to do the same. This is a new dog companion we will have in Pikmin 4 that will be able to help us get around the world by floating on water, taking down obstacles, and a variety of other things out there. Oatchi will also be up to the task to keep all of our Pikmin safe and help them when needed. I am sure there will be some solid puzzles that will require that.
It also looks as if we will be able to head underground and explore the world at night in the game. Each offers up a few new things in the mix but with the nighttime making the enemies a little more frenzied out there and also giving us Glow Pikmin to use in the mix. Although, it does feel like these Pikmin are only in there to defend and not much else. That could be different when the game is in our hands, but this video shows them as defending specific locations and nothing more. I am not seeing much of a reason to go out at night based on all of this. Unless we are going to have missing survivors and other things we can only find at night.
Pikmin 4 — Gameplay
Pikmin 4 launches for Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023!
Calling new recruits! Yes, YOU! Traverse a big world from a pint-sized perspective in Pikmin 4 as you collect treasures, rescue fellow explorers, and embark on Night Expeditions with the debuting Glow Pikmin!
A demo of Pikmin 4 will also be available to download for free starting on June 28.
Speaking of, we are going to have to head out and save other crew members in Pikmin 4. Doing so will allow us to upgrade and alter our character and the ship out there. It is not going to be as easy as finding them and bringing them back, though, as it looks like there is a minigame mixed in for it all too. A mini-game that will have us facing off with other characters and their Oatchi in a match of who can collect more things in the area. The winner gets to take the crew member home. A nice and interesting twist into the core gameplay of it all here that I am ready to explore and play.
Does all of this shake up the Pikmin gameplay loop enough for you? Will the Glow versions offer up more than just some nighttime defense for us to employ? How long until we see the 1v1 matches become an online gameplay mechanic in this version of the game? Are we going to want to build up all of the perks and gear in the game? Feel free to discuss all of that down in the comment section. I am keeping watch on Pikmin 4 here and I will add all that I can for it. You just need to keep coming back to the site to see it all. Do that and you will not be let down at all.
