The Dark Pictures
New gameplay for The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is here to show how more of The Dark Pictures is mixed in for the VR title
The PSVR2 is almost here and we are going to have so many titles out there for it, with The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR being another of them. A title we have seen a little be for back when Supermassive Games was still working on the standard narrative version of the IP. That is something that will carry over into this version of The Dark Pictures while still being an on-rails shooter. That is the easier way to keep some of the VR titles moving forward while not forcing the users to have their own warehouse space to run around in. Not only that, but it allows us to get further invested in the story and how the gameplay will flow into it all. Even if this is an in-between-quel for the IP and not specifically linked in any other way to it all.
While knowing the basics for this entry into The Dark Pictures is nice, it is going to be the extra advancements with the new hardware that are going to make this title set out a bit. We will have more of the haptic systems for the controllers out there as expected, but it also looks like the team is using the new stuff in the headset to let us "feel" more of the creepiness in the game while getting more with the 3D audio systems. Things like "meat" sliding along our heads, the wind blowing by, and some of the concussions from the guns/explosions are some of those things that will further place us into the world. Not that The Dark Pictures is one that we will all want to be in. Given that it is all we are going to have until the next season, though, I will take everything I can in the mix.
