The Witcher
Fans of The Witcher will be able to experience the fun of The Witcher once more with a new remake in the works
This all seems like something that was not on anyone's Bingo card for the year, but here we are with the announcement out there for The Witcher Remake we are going to be getting. It is not something many thought we would see but here we are with CD Projekt RED letting the world know it is coming and the Fool’s Theory is starting things off. That would be the team that is developing this version of The Witcher using the latest Unreal 5 engine for those that might have missed the rumors out there before the full announcement here. It is now time to get all amped up to see how it will all flow out there once more instead of pushing forward with something else. Even if we are getting another newer title too down the line.
Outside of that, this is most of what we know for The Witcher Remake that we are getting out there. The game will be remade from the ground up and not just a remaster and upgrade to the models and textures. Pretty much as we have been seeing with all the different titles out there that are getting the same treatment. I know that the original version of The Witcher was a bit rough of a game for me, so I am a little excited to see if it will be able to bring me back in to the origins of it all. I know I skipped playing fully through it all up to the most recent title. That is where it felt like a fully rounded thing for me. I know I am in the minority of gamers out there when it comes to all of that.
The Witcher Remake Is In development!
We are thrilled to announce that The Witcher Remake is being worked on! That's right, the game that started it all is being rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.
The game is currently in the early stages of development at the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, where veteran Witcher series staff are involved. We, as CD Projekt RED, are providing full creative supervision.
The Witcher Remake is what you might know by the codename “Canis Majoris”. It’s still early and we want to ensure that the game is created with the utmost care and attention to detail, therefore, while we’re excited to share the news with you, we want to ask you for patience as it will be a while until we start talking about this project in detail.
“The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt RED. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD Projekt RED. “Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how much gamers have been looking forward to seeing the remake happen, and they know how to make incredible and ambitious games. And although it will take some time before we’re ready to share more about and from the game, I know it’ll be worth the wait.”
Were you ever expecting to see a whole new version of The Witcher out there or did you think it was going to be just more future titles instead? What do you think will be changed in this version of the game or will they still stick to the classic versions of things a bit more? What systems do you think we will see this version of the game drop on and will it be for all of them out there in general? Let the world know what you are thinking down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all as you so wish. More for The Witcher Remake will be on the site for you, as long as you keep checking in for all of that. Please keep doing that and then see how the development will be cycling out there.
