Behind The Scenes With X-Men Destiny
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 25th of July 2011 - 04:12 PM ]
X-Men Destiny is an Action RPG collaboration between Marvel and Activision. With an original story-line where you play as a new mutant within the X-men Universe, players will have the ability to make choices throughout the game, and your "Destiny" will be determined by these RPG style decisions. Marvel and Activision have released two behind the scenes trailers for their upcoming title X-Men Destiny. After the jump you will see the latest trailer, along with two behind the scenes videos. The behind the scenes videos consist of the actors from in-game, Scott porter and Jaimie Chung, explaining a little more about the games characters, Adrian and Aimi, also shedding some light on their background story-lines. Final Fantasy XIII-2 Looks Amazing Even Without The Dress Sphere
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of June 2011 - 04:21 PM ]
I swear that Square Enix has sold their souls to someone other than me. When it comes to making games look amazing, they are by far one of the leaders in video game visuals. Almost to the point it has to be supernatural. Try and name one of their Final Fantasy titles that did not look cutting edge for the time. I find that a difficult task, so I'll move on. If you have not skipped on to see the new screen shots yet, I thank you. Read More...

Please No Dress Spheres In Final Fantasy XIII-2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of January 2011 - 07:44 PM ]
Well here is an interesting twist to the whole Final Fantasy XIII ten year plan. Just announced is the oddly named Final Fantasy XIII-2, a continuation to the story of FFXIII. I say it is odd because Square Enix tried this before with FFX-2 which didn't do as well as any of their wholly new story lined titles with Final Fantasy in the title. Yes I know I used the title way too many times there. Sue me. Read More...

Atari, and Cryptic Studios, the team that brought you City of Heroes, Champions Online and the latest Star Trek Online have announced that they are developing the latest title in the Neverwinter genre for the PC called "Neverwinter." Neverwinter will be an online RPG based on the Wizards of the Coast city of Neverwinter. Once a bustling location, Neverwinter has faced a great many disasters in the past hundred years. Rule of the city remains unclear following the unfortunate demise of the last Lord of Neverwinter and factions still battle for dominance after the all-consuming Spellplague took a high toll on the population. Costume Quest Makes That Transformers Costume Real
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 13th of August 2010 - 07:06 PM ]
While it is not a game with a great overall concept like Brütal Legend, Costume Quest is just about what we have come to expect from Tim Schafer's studio Double Fine. Oh wait, you don't know what Costume Quest is? Let me give you the run down. Costume Quest is a rollicking Adventure/Role-Playing game that unfolds on Halloween night across seemingly peaceful suburban neighborhoods, a mysterious village carnival, and a monster-infested shopping mall. Created by Double Fine's lead animator, Tasha Harris, the game follows the adventure of a group of young friends who must rid their neighborhood of monsters using only their wits, their bravery, and their home-made costumes. Players go door-to-door collecting candy, points, cards, battle stamps and quest assignments as they prepare themselves for Combat Mode-where they transform into larger-than-life versions of their costumes. Ninjas & Robots Team Up, Nothing Good Can Come Of This
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 12th of August 2010 - 06:11 PM ]
Instead of facing off in a bloody, futuristic main event, like they should have, 2K Games and Gearbox are teaming up to show their post-apocalyptic supremacy over everything. At least that is the premise behind the new DLC for Borderlands - Claptrap's New Robot Revolution. Wait, you didn't know there is some new DLC rolling out for Borderlands? Well consider this a nice little daily double, even though it is all wrapped into one package. /MindBlown I'll give you a moment to collect your thoughts again. Read More...

Review: Alpha Protocol
by Kevin [ Thursday, 3rd of June 2010 - 10:56 PM ]
There were few games I was looking forward to this year more than Alpha Protocol. With every new video and image released I thought the customization, character interaction and apparent polish on the title would really push it to the top of my "gotta play" list. I felt like Obsidian Entertainment wouldn't disappoint, with their history of working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2. This was their time to make an original IP, and though the game was wrought with delays and false starts, here we are. So, while we're here – what exactly do we have? Read More...

Lessons Learned: Record of Agarest War
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 02:34 PM ]
Have you ever been excited for a game's release, and somehow found a way to ruin the game experience due to your own mistake? I guess in my case, it's more stupidity than a mistake. What I am about to recount is how I went from being in Heaven to dragging myself through Hell in a matter of 10 days. This is my story on how my attempt to review Record of Agarest War went sour and the lessons I learned. As a gamer that is very keen on the import scene, I had heard of Record of Agarest War when it was first released in Japan in late 2007. I was intrigued by the reported dating aspects, the Soul Breeding the game touted and being able to play through story through multiple generations. Read More...

10 Things You Ought To Know: Final Fantasy XIII
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 11th of May 2010 - 06:18 PM ]
It has been two months since the release of Final Fantasy XIII on the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360. Some – including myself – were among the many people who began playing on release day, just clamoring for the return to the Final Fantasy series. Meanwhile, others lost interest in the game or are saving the experience in order to play titles that were released around the same time (read: God Of War III). I’ve compiled a list of things to remember about the game as you ready yourself for a 60+ hour dive into this mammoth role playing game. The voice acting is not movie quality. Read More...

Review: Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
by Michael Camacho [ Friday, 9th of April 2010 - 09:22 PM ]
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon, developed by Namco and localized by XSeed Games, is an interesting game. I felt like I was playing an anime with many Japanese RPG elements infused within. Fragile Dreams is about a young boy named Seto, who is on a quest to find others in the world after nearly everyone has disappeared. After coming in contact with a young girl named Ren, she runs off and he is on a quest to find her and hopefully others. Early on in his journey he finds a Personal Frame Unit that is a talking backpack, and helps guide Seto through many of his trials and tribulations. Read More...

Review: Dragon Age: Origins Awakening
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 22nd of March 2010 - 03:50 PM ]
Disclaimer: Before you continue on to reading this review, I want to say a couple of things. If you have not played Dragon Age: Origins, I highly recommend you do before playing this expansion. While it is playable as a stand alone on consoles, you will be doing yourself a huge disservice by not playing through the original storyline. Second, play through all current DLC on the main game as well before importing your character into Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, as you will not be able to go back and play through that once your character has gone through the Awakening storyline. It has only been four months since Dragon Age: Origins was released by Bioware, and already they have released one DLC (Return to Orzammar) and now we have the first full expansion pack, known as Awakening. Review: Mass Effect 2
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 8th of February 2010 - 09:31 PM ]
*Disclaimer: If you have not played Mass Effect, then I urge you to play through it before reading this review, as it will contain some spoilers from the first game. After the original Mass Effect, Bioware had a tough job on their hands. They made an excellent game, but one that was hampered by complaints from the players. So during the two plus years since the original, Bioware has spent their time making the necessary changes. The final result is leaps and bounds ahead of the first. Read More...

Torchlight Gets The Okay To Travel To Europe
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 5th of February 2010 - 07:23 PM ]
Torchlight is one of 2009's unexpected games that everyone seemed to enjoy. If you do not know what Torchlight is, and shame on you for not knowing, let me tell you. Torchlight was developed by Runic Games with the team consists of former Diablo creators Max and Erich Schaefer and several more famous representatives of the international game dev scene. The game plays similar to the original Diablo games that was made from Blizzard Entertainment. Austrian publisher JoWooD Entertainment has obtained the rights to distribute Torchlight, adding another triple-A title to the JoWooD’s family. Read More...

Sword & Poker: The .99 Cent iPhone Battery Killer
by Kevin [ Sunday, 24th of January 2010 - 08:03 PM ]
I've come across a multitude of titles in the App Store that attempt to bridge the gap between two gaming genres. There have been varying degrees of success for most of these games, but every now and again there's a title that not only dares to get the formula right - but sees fit to destroy the battery in my phone (which, admittedly, with an iPhone isn't too terribly difficult). In this case the game in question is "Sword&Poker" - and yes it is exactly what it sounds like.In the world of Sword & Poker, the always dreaded Lord of Chaos has snagged the equally ominous Stone of Creation and has formed a intricate dungeon to protect his dark intent. Take A Glimpse Into Final Fantasy XIV
by Kevin [ Thursday, 17th of December 2009 - 03:27 PM ]
Well, the beta test application site for Final Fantasy XIV has opened up, and while the beta may only be for the PC, it is a great chance for those interested to poke around in what could be a fantastic MMO experience. For the curious, the requirements are: Be at least 18 years of age Possess a Square Enix ID account (Register for a Square Enix ID account here, if you don't have one already) Possess an internet connection Be capable of downloading large amounts of data Be capable of submitting bug reports in either Japanese, English, French, or German Like any other beta test, there will be several waves and opportunities to enter the beta so don't be discouraged if you don't make it in initially. For those looking for the PS3 experience, it seems that will be revealed "at a later date." Despite that, 2010 is going to be the year for this game's release, and I, for one, am excited.
