Grounded
We have a new look at Grounded with a bit more on the story and then a nice big batch of new gameplay for Grounded to take in
Get ready to relive a bit of some fun nostalgia, of sorts, as Grounded is heading to the Xbox Game Preview on July 28th for the Xbox One. It will also be heading over to the PC via a Steam Early Access on the same date so Obsidian Entertainment shows off just what is going on with the game at this point. All so we can get a fun version of Honey I Shrunk The Kids on as we try to survive in the game portion of Grounded here. Do not read that as a knock on the game at all as I am excited about it all and all of this new footage, we have here just added to all of that excitement now.
Here we have a bit more of the story for Grounded where it looks like there is a bit more going on than just being shrunk down and trying to get back to the house. Something a bit more alien or futuristic than just the basics. Sadly, that does not change the fact that there will be so much to survive and outlast throughout the game. Add in the huge landmarks in the crafted landscape that we can build around and the various insects are hidden out there in Grounded, it looks like it could all be heading in the correct way. Even if there is something odd about the various insects that have been forced in that would not normally be around. It is needed to make a good game so I will allow it.
Grounded — Story
On the April episode of Inside Xbox, Obsidian Entertainment was proud to announce that upcoming survival adventure game Grounded will enter Xbox Game Preview with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Steam Early Access on July 28, 2020. As part of the announcement, the team also revealed a brand new trailer focusing on the single-player experience for Grounded, and a first-ever Livestream with Obsidian Entertainment’s Game Director, Adam Brennecke and Social Media Manager, Shyla Schofield, who gave us a closer look at the game.
In Grounded, you wake up in a suburban backyard, shrunk to the size of an ant. You hear the voice of a mysterious robot named BURG.L. He seems to know what’s going on and lets you know that the machine to turn you back to normal size is currently out of order. For now, everything in the backyard is trying to kill you and it’s up to you — and up to three friends, if you’re playing co-operative multiplayer — to survive the perilous landscape.
The backyard is rife with different kinds of ants, flying insects, and spiders. You must gather, craft, and build bases from scavenged items found in the backyard, searching for life-saving resources such as the dew off grass to quench your thirst or transforming an acorn shell into body armor to defend against a host of unpredictable creatures.
To summarize, you want to: Go Big Or Never Go Home.
Grounded — Gameplay
Are you excited to see that you will be able to give Grounded a go before it is finally done or will you be waiting to jump in with all of your friends at a later date? Do you find it odd that we have all of these different insects living in the area with no pest control or will that be explained in the story too? What is the coolest feature you have seen so far and would it have been cool to have Rick Moranis to voice the robot here? Let us all know down in the comments what you are thinking and then feel free to discuss it all. When we have more to share for Grounded, we will share it all here. Be sure to keep checking back for all of that and more.
