The Surge
A batch of new screenshots for The Surge 2 are here to give us a slight look at the game and possible new mechanics for The Surge 2
In the past week, Focus Home Interactive hosted one of their media events that aimed to show more for the games that they will be publishing with The Surge 2 being in the mix of them all. Not too much has seemed to have come out of the event as of yet as it was most likely a lot of first looks and current looks at all of the games with embargoes placed down to keep the coverage at bay for a bit. Whatever the case may be, Deck 13 was there with the current stuff they have for The Surge 2 and giving a small show of what will be coming to the game later in this year. While there may not be any new video or gameplay to take in, it looks like there are a few new screenshots for the game to keep us sated a bit longer.
The interesting part of all of this is that we get to see what looks to be a few new locations in The Surge 2 along with some other enemies. It also looks as if there is a hint at more of a co-op gameplay feature in this version of the game than we saw in the previous title. To my memory, faulty as it is at times, I do not recall this being a feature added in later in that game or something mentioned for The Surge 2 as of yet. It could also be a clever shot to bring in the PC and NPC characters to an epic fight. You can see it all below and be the ultimate judge for yourself and then prepare for the game to hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
After the success of The Surge, the hardcore Action RPG released in May 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are happy to announce the renewal of their partnership and the development of The Surge 2, with a release date planned for 2019 on consoles and PC.
The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original — hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system, and deep character progression — while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck 13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.
What are your thoughts on The Surge 2 after all of this or are you waiting until a full video to pass judgment? Do you think this does point to more of a co-op thing in the game or just a nice shot taken out of context? How do you feel about the environments we have presented here?
