The Walking Dead
During SDCC it was revealed that The Walking Dead from Telltale will be getting one more season to wrap up The Walking Dead story we've been waiting for
There was a lot of good news to come out of SDCC this year but what we have here is a mix of good and bad as The Walking Dead: The Final Season has been announced to be in the works and heading to us sometime in 2018. Obviously we can see the good news here as we will get to see Clementine back in action and dig into some of the best storytelling that Telltale Games can offer, but it also means that all of this will be coming to an end here. I'm going to go on a limb and guess this is due to the fact that The Walking Dead is over saturating the market with all of the other titles they have coming out there, but it could just be that the team wants to move on to other things or maybe other aspects of the universe. As this is a working title it could mean the end of the story for the characters we've grown to love over the last six years.
Yea, we can get even sadder here by thinking that we will see the ultimate end of Clementine and/or Javier now with this new season of The Walking Dead. It all depends on how the team wants to end it all and maybe still keep making titles in the universe here. Hells, maybe we will get to see something else from them in this universe in the same way we saw the Michonne story play out and link back to the comics directly. I know I'd love to see Telltale take on the Here's Negan story to give us all a solid look at the character many have grown to love and hate in the comic and show. That may be a bit far out there, but it is a secret hope I have that will most likely not pan out at all. This all could just mean that the deal between all of the companies may have just ended and they didn't want to fully renew.
As The Walking Dead: The Final Season is just now heading into development, there isn't much else to bring here in terms of updates. That should have been expected as that is how these things generally go when we only get an announcement that it is in the works. For now, we just get to wait and speculate on everything that this final season of The Walking Dead could bring us. Most likely not a happy ending given the universe and what is to be expected for it all.
In a series retrospective released today in celebration of Comic-Con through Telltale's Summer 2017 Update, the development team at Telltale Games sat down to reflect on the journey of series protagonist 'Clementine' since the first episode premiered in April of 2012. In discussing the character's path all the way through 2017's conclusion of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, Telltale confirmed that this fourth and final season would focus on Clementine in the lead role, allowing players to fully step back into the shoes of the fan favorite character.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season (working title) will debut in 2018 on consoles, PC/Mac, iOS and Android-based devices. Additional platforms are yet to be announced.
