Syndrome
A new horror title named Syndrome has been announced and it looks like it is taking pages from all kinds of horror video games out there
Horror fans you can add another title into the list as it looks like Syndrome has been announced and is coming to the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux platforms in Q2 of 2016. No this is not a horror title about what would happen if the villain from The Incredibles won the day but a sci-fi horror title being made by Camel 101 and Bigmoon Entertainment. Syndrome may not need that definition after you see how it is slated to bring the classic horror genre back into video games. A loftly claim to make given all of the other titles outside of Syndrome that is making that claim.
None the less Syndrome is going to make and attempt at it in realm of us taking on the role of guy that wakes up on a spaceship and is working off the effects of cryosleep. Of course this is when we all find out that the other humans on said spaceship have undergone some weird transformations and are hunting you down in Syndrome. I have a feeling that the title is going to play into all of the events in some huge way but that is the rundown of what we have here for Syndrome.
It looks like Camel 101 is going to bring back the limited items and weapons in Syndrome as well as the creepy and desolated areas in a space ship. We will also be getting the options to run and gun or sneak right by all of the horrors in Syndrome. Of course the run and gun option does seem to be a bit limited given the resources that we are slated to get out of the gate here. I guess that would be a bad way to explain the Fight or Flight mechanic in Syndrome but that's on me and not the dev team here.
Syndrome — Announcement Trailer
After all is said and done here for Syndrome it looks like Camel 101 is using some of the elements recently used in titles like Dead Space and Alien Isolation here in Syndrome. Down to the hiding and holding your breath for enemies to move on by and all of the creeping horrors in a spaceship. We can't judge all games like Syndrome to those titles though as it kind of claims that they are making just another clone but so far that is the feel I am getting here. Even if Syndrome clones those elements exactly I think that there will be a winning title here. I guess we'll wait and see.
What are your thoughts on Syndrome here after the announcement? Does it look to you as it does to me? Do you think that Camel 101 is only using the core concepts of those other title's mechanics here in Syndrome or do you see it being a direct lifting? Do we need another sci-fi, in-space, horror title at that? Let us know in the comments and discuss until the monsters of space come home. We'll continue to keep our eyes out there on Syndrome and bring the updates as they come so be sure to keep checking back in for more and if Syndrome looks to be a game to add to the collection.
