If only we could have all waited for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to be fully announced today. As was mentioned yesterday it started out as rumor and speculation based on an amazing, yet saddening for society, media campaign with a video stream showing off a man imprisoned for unknown reasons and we were allowed to help choose his fate. Then it followed up with Game Informer "leaking" screenshots, concept art, and a bit of footage for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Pretty much they ruined the big reveal that happened this morning for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and that was the announcement trailer and a bit of what to expect for the game when it comes out on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in the future.
We could dwell on all of the "ethics" that were violated and the money that was ultimately wasted because of the "leaks" of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided but let's just dive into what Square Enix and Eidos Montreal wanted to surprise us with. That being a nice three minute trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, although it is all pre-rendered, and a bit of what is going on in the world of the game. It does all take place two years after Deus Ex: Human Revolution and we will have to deal with all of the division of humanity between augmented humans and the all-natural ones. Oh, and the Illuminati just for good measure.
Sounds like quite a bit for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided but at least Adam Jensen will have all kinds of upgrades in the game to use against all of the foes and try to end all the bullshit division here. I'll shut up now and let you have at what is now officially announced for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided — Announcement Trailer
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided takes place in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution and the infamous ‘Aug Incident’ in Panchaea that resulted in the death of millions at the hands of those who had installed augmentations. This event has created a huge divide between those who have augmentations, and those who do not. Amongst this emotional turmoil are various factions looking to manipulate the public by twisting public opinion of augmentation to further their own agenda and hide the truth of what really happened.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided also continues the story of Adam Jensen, a former biotech company security chief turned super-augmented, anti-terrorist agent playing by his own rules. Jensen has been empowered with all new augmentations, enabling him and the player a greater sense of self-control as they explore all new locations in-game. As social and political tensions reach a major turning point, Jensen and conspiracies surrounding the Illuminati continue toward an inevitable crossroads… and possibly, an epic showdown.
I am more than excited now for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided as I loved Human Revolution. I am a bit upset that things were spoiled because other outlets had to be able to claim "first" on getting the announcement out but until publishers, developers, and the public start punishing them for do that we will always have a great build up in marketing and then a letdown as someone wants to ruin the fun as what happened for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided here. It looks like care has gone into it all and I am sure that the gameplay will be top notch but as this was supposed to be the huge hype train to get us all ready for E3 I think the announcement part fell a bit flat. Just another email and trailer sent out with no big surprise but I am getting off topic yet again.
So? What do you think of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided getting the full announcement treatment here? Even though it is all pre-rendered footage to promote the game are you not filled with the same feeling that happened when Human Revolution did the same thing years ago? Are you clamoring for some actual gameplay now? Use the comment section as it is supposed to be used and let everyone know your thoughts on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
