Band Hero is the long lost love child of Guitar Hero: World Tour and High School Musical. Actually, Band Hero is Activision's white flag of acceptance that they lost the war against Harmonix and Rock Band. For this year's iteration of Guitar Hero, Activision split the "guitar game" part back onto its own and did what it does best: make a hard, guitar-shredding game. The drums and mic departments, per se, went a lighter, sold-out pop route for the 'tween' market in Band Hero. Set to release in November, the game (so far) has announced the ability to eventually play as Grammy award-winning Taylor Swift or Maroon 5's Adam Levine. Yep, not for me.
That is definitely not to say that this title will not be very good or immensely popular, but I'm not entirely sure how Don McLean's classic "American Pie" ends up with the likes of Aly&AJ. There are only about 40 tracks in here for the console version, so I'm guessing we have not seen the last of the Activision hype machine.
