God Of War
The next part of the God Of War saga has been revealed, with loads of new gameplay for God Of War Laufey
It feels like we all knew it was coming, but it still hit so hard with the announcement, reveal, and gameplay we now have for God Of War Laufey. The next title in the saga that Santa Monica Studio is working on, and as the title tells us, it will be a story all about Faye. Not a backstory, specifically, but what happened to her after the scene that we had in the 2018 title. It has been eight years, but I am still not going to spoil it for those who have not had a chance to experience all that God Of War has up to now. Something you can still dive into with all of the games, well before this one lands on the PS5 in the future. I only wish we all knew how far into the future, but with the gameplay we have to see here, it does feel as if that might not be too far off.
While we do have to wait to see when this saga will land, gods do we have a lot to look at for God Of War Laufey. Over twenty minutes of gameplay, which all feel like it will be the start of the game and basic tutorial sections once we get to play it properly. Mostly, as it all sets up where Faye went after her death and what was waiting. As it seems, it is a place called the Everywhen, and it is the afterlife for the gods. This does mean that we might get to see all of the Greek gods and Norse gods that fall during the events of the God Of War titles added in. Since the story is running a little parallel to the 2018 title, that might also mean the various ones that Kratos puts down during the game might show up in this afterlife, and Faye might also get a run-in with Athena to truly learn more about her husband while also trying to fight her way back to the land of the living. That does seem to be the driving goal, outside of using her prowess to save others who are trapped in the realm.
I say trapped, as it does look as if the Everywhen in God Of War Laufey will not be as much of a paradise as one might think for the gods. It is a realm that looks as if it is being run by other fallen gods of war, as we have a Mongolian and Egyptian deity running things as Faye enters. Even though Faye is a badass in her own right, as you will see in the flow of magic and graceful combat, we also have two more companions in the mix. One of them a cube, which I will always call the companion cube going forward. Even though it is voiced by Jack Quaid and is its own thing in the God of War lore. That is all a topic for other days, though, as you will most likely want to move right into the gameplay that we have, and a little more behind the scenes on how Deborah Ann Woll and Perlina Lau will be bringing the characters of the world to life. The first one is the original voice and face of Faye, and the latter is a new character for this part of the saga.

How do you think this will run in terms of the timeline of God Of War, and will we see gods from the past titles show up in this run? Is this how the team is going to link in the other pantheons they wanted to have Kratos run through, or will it just be a jumping-off point after we have the conclusion of Faye's story? Is this going to feel like a completely different title with the way Faye attacks, and will it give us a little more of the classic platforming that we loved in the original titles? So many more questions and things to talk about for this one down in the comments. If you know us around here, we are going to have everything that we can for God Of War Laufey on the website.
