When you think of Las Vegas and Gaming, the first place you go is to the table game and gambling. It is the staple in Vegas. But it looks like soon, like in a few weeks, gaming could take a slight twist in the town. At least as it comes to online portable gaming. Maybe make the town a bit more family friendly. Who knows?
What is this hullabaloo that I speak of? Well on the 21st of July (a truly epic day), Clearwire will be officially rolling out the WiMax for Sin City. The 4th city in the country to have this technology running through the cities veins. WiMax being a 4G wireless network broadcast over the entire metropolis for those who do not know. With 4G having a nominal data rate of 100 Mbit/s. Not to shabby for a wireless connection.
While of course gaming not being the focus for this piece of tech getting placed in the city, I am certain that it will be utilized for it greatly. Just think, you can go there with the kids and pump dollar after dollar into the machines while they hop on WoW and slaughter a herd of boars. You could fulfil that Zombie killing need with Infected on the PSP while sitting in the local strip club.1 Hells, you could access your home media server and look at your porn collection while waiting your turn in one of the gang bangs here.2 The possibilities are as endless as the hardware you have to connect with.
I certainly jest with all that, but it will be kind of cool to see what comes of this new tech that launches in Vegas. It will only be a matter of time before someone here does something crazy with it for a profit. Let's hope it is something worthwhile.

1 - I'd never disrespect the local single moms and college girls like that.
2 - I deny ever knowing about or engaging in these things called gang bangs.
