Dispatch
A new title, Dispatch, was announced from a bunch of industry veterans with Dispatch giving us a new narrative to experience
We hear that the superhero genre of video games is dead all the time, but then we get fun new additions like Dispatch dropped on us to make us rethink all of that. This would be the first big title from AdHoc Studio, which is made up of many from the teams that brought us many of the big Telltale games in the past. This time, to give us another narrative adventure like those but with some massive twists and voices along the way too. All as we settle in as one of the new members of a dispatch team that is tasked with sending out the correct superheroes to handle the situations. All while also trying to manage a few of the interpersonal situations that will arise in this new title for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Let us see what else we can pick up from the latest announcement for the game.
In Dispatch, it looks as if we are going to be playing as Robert Robertson who is keeping to the superhero naming conventions. He was an Iron Man-like hero except that his mech-suit has been destroyed and there is only one way to get it fixed. It also leans into how Robert is still going to be doing some good out there in the mix too, as it is all in becoming that new dispatch agent out there. One that will have us playing through a game that looks like it is a full animated show too. All to further highlight our skills at sending out the correct hero, rehabilitating ex-supervillains, and those pesky office dynamics that cause all manner of headaches. If it wasn't for the massive voice talent to keep us engaged and laughing, it sounds like it would have been another "job the video game" just with some extra story elements slapped on top. Have a gander at the extended look for the game to see how it is going to bring the narrative and path-choosing games back into our lives again.
Dispatch — Reveal [Extended Cut]
Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter. Manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategize who to send to emergencies around the city, all while balancing office politics, personal relationships, and your own quest to become a hero.
You play as Robert Robertson, AKA Mecha Man, whose mech-suit is destroyed in a battle against his nemesis, forcing him to take a job at a superhero dispatch center: not as a hero, but as a dispatcher. In charge of rehabilitating a group of ex-supervillains, you must manage your roster while navigating office relationships and rebuilding your suit for a shot at revenge.
Are you pleasantly surprised that we are getting a title like Dispatch out there or do you fear that these titles had their time in the sun already? Will the voice cast for the game be the bigger highlight or just the icing on a delicious cake of a video game? Will our choices truly shape the ending of the story here or will they only shift a few of those personal connections in the mix of things and nothing much more? Take a call and offer up the discussion of it all in the comment section below. We are going to be keeping a close eye on Dispatch going forward, so please keep a close eye on the site for all of those updates and changes to the game as we progress too. It does look like it could be a title that brings so much fun back to us all and I am excited to see how it all fairs out there.
