Death Relives
A new look at Death Relives is out there to show off how the AI of Death Relives and how the main villain will be hunting us down
The work for Death Relives keeps on plugging away out there and we keep getting new footage to look at in the mix. This time a bit more exciting as we get to see how Nyctophile Studios is putting together the AI system in the game for us. One that will be driving the environmental interactions as well as the main villain of the game. That being one of the more important things as Death Relives would not be as intense of a game if the main bad guy just stood around waiting for us to kill them. Thankfully, it does not look like that will be the case and the AI system adds a few other fun little features into the mix of things to get excited for. Let us dive in and see why we should be keeping our eyes on this one for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it is ready.
As you can see in Death Relives here, we are being hunted down by the Aztec god Xipe Totec and we will have a few items and gear bits that might be able to slow them down. Not by much, which is why we will need to hide and use the world about us to make sure they do not find us and sacrifice us. That is where the AI comes in as Xipe Totec will be looking everywhere for us after losing visuals for us. Not unusual for a game like Death Relives but this one will give us some music cues that will respond to the villain along the way to keep things feeling further dynamic and keep us on our toes. It does look like there is a bit more work to be done as it seems like even when we pass the silence tests or have Xipe looking right at us, they do not do what is expected, but this is just a test. Something to get us talking about the game again and remind us it is coming in the future. Have a look and see just what I am talking about with all of this.
Death Relives — AI Test
Nyctophile Studios tested the AI and environmental interaction of the main villain on one of the real maps of Death Relives. Some armor pieces are temporary and will be described in detail later. A dynamic music system also responds to the proximity and aggression of the villain.
Do you think this new look at the AI for Death Relives holds up or is it a good starting place for the team to build from? Is the out-of-body experience we see here part of the gameplay or some of the testing tools to see how well the AI is working in the game? Will we always have the chance that Xipe will attack even if we clear the "silent" mini-games while hiding? Sneak on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else we have to share for the game. We are keeping a watch out for more to come for Death Relives, so please do the same for the site. We will update you all as soon as we get anything else that is just as fun to share with the world. We are just hoping it is sooner instead of later, as usual out there.
