Every now and again, I'll look for a title that may have fallen through the cracks or that I know is new to some and familiar to others. More often than not it'll be a title that either caused my head to implode or really seemed to fall below the radar.
Noby Noby Boy is a little title for the PS3 by Keita Takahashi, the creator of the Katamari Damacy series. I picked up solely on that premise alone - becuase of the inventiveness of the original and the expectation of something just as entertaining. That being said, I'm not sure what this game is. Essentially, the premise is, you play as this worm thing called BOY, and you go around accumulating points based on how much you stretch BOY so you can please GIRL. This is the premise of the game. It's definitely the same type of off beat flavor that spawned the Katamari series. The game is a good time.. but what that good time is composed of, however, I'm not entirely sure. As a matter of fact, before I continue, go to the website. And take it all in. I'll wait.
Welcome back. Your goal is to stretch as much as possible. to engage this planetoid like entity named Girl. Now, Girl, wants to unite every living creature in love - through the Boy's stretching prowess and rainbow girth. You can take the stretching totals back to Girl whenever you feel inclined to do so, and Girl takes this mighty cocoon shaft of peace and moves towards other uncharted areas where she may establish her dark reign of technicolor tyranny. There is a sense of community though because the total stretching is comprised of all Noby Noby players from all over.
Yeah, take it all in.
In any event, Noby Noby, in spite of itself, does work, and the simplicity in the art style and there is a certain familiarity that exists for people that have played any of the sixty four games in the Katamari series. This is pretty low-impact gaming, and you aren't going to confuse this for a frenzied session of Killzone 2, but for five bucks, Noby Noby Boy will grant a fairly unforgettable experience.
