It is time to dive in more with Returnal here with a new look at how the combat in the game will function. Well, more on how the weapons and their attachments will function in the game. Given that Housemarque is giving us a rogue-like experience but it does look like the weapons we will gather can move along with us as we try again to get out of the time loop. This is where some of the alien objects in Returnal kick in to help us keep some of the things we find or use to carry over and be in the random mix to start with when we go back in once again on the PS5.
In Returnal, we will see a base of ten different weapons to start our builds and runs with. We will see through gameplay another ninety traits to go on these weapons with each having three different levels to unlock upon them too. Then we get to mix in the ten different alt-fire types that will be randomly placed on the weapon at spawn. This does sound like there will be loads of different weapons we can see in Returnal but it could leave us wanting when we find the perfect combination and possibly lose it as we die again. It is why I am not a huge fan of this style of game but know others like to have that punishment.

Are these mechanics that you enjoy in games like Returnal or does it sound like it will be frustrating to have to deal with along the way? Will each of these options make it all truly feel different or will some of them just be different ways to see the same element types throw around in the world? How much do you think we will be able to carry over as we go or will it mostly get wiped each time we have to start the loop back over? Give us all of those thoughts down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all as you wish. We will share everything that we can find for Returnal on the site, so be sure to keep checking in for that and much more.
