Resident Evil
It has been pointed out that the Resident Evil 2 Remake will be changing Leon’s backstory a bit than we knew in Resident Evil 2
The differences from the Resident Evil 2 Remake and the original game are growing outside of just visuals and a bit of level design as it has been spotted that story elements are being shifted a bit too. This is something I always figured Capcom would do here too, but now we have more proof as it looks like Leon's backstory is getting shifted a bit too. Some say to a less dark place than we knew in the original Resident Evil 2, but it feels a bit more fitting given what we will be experiencing in the game. You can be the judge though and have a taste just before it hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25th.
All of this comes about from a recent update on the Japanese Twitter for the Resident Evil titles where it was explained that Leon was just sitting at home waiting to be called in for duty. The call never came so he ventured in to see what was going on and how to help Raccoon City. That is what we can expect here, but it is a bit different than the original Resident Evil 2 which placed Leon in a dark place of drinking after losing his girlfriend. This is why he was late getting in for assignment and placing him in the city as he was the first time around. It is a deviation, but it at least still works. Here is what was spotted out there.
New officer Leon S. Kennedy was assigned to Raccoon City. Before going on duty, Kennedy was at home on standby, waiting for his orders. After no one contacted him and feeling something was off, Kennedy headed to the station. Days later, after arriving in Raccoon City, his life changed. #RE2_chara pic.twitter.com/VofXFRlrpT

2) "Oversleeping from drunkenness a day late on September 29, he rushed back onto the road when he wasn't able to telephone into the station."

The new #RE2_chara biography of #LeonSKennedy in #ResidentEvil2Remake looks very different, many loved the old one °A°
What are your thoughts on the new story that Leon is getting here in the Resident Evil 2 Remake? Do you think it works better than the original or did you want that to return for the character? Do you think all of the other characters are going to get the same treatment or will they stick as close to the source as possible? Let us all know what you are thinking down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. If there is more to share for this Resident Evil 2, we will share it here. Just keep checking back in to see it all as we get closer to the release date.
