Someday You’ll Return Will Test The Fears Of Fatherhood

Someday You’ll Return

A new psychological horror, Someday You’ll Return, has been revealed and Someday You’ll Return will test your ability to be a good father

Here we go with another psychological horror title getting announced with Someday You’ll Return with a current goal to hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2019. Do not think that is a bad thing as CBE Software is looking to shake up the genre and gameplay style of the “walking simulator” here. Someday You’ll Return is not going to be just that but something deeper and more atmospheric from the basic description and the trailer that has come with this announcement here. Something you can obviously see just below to get a good feel for what is going on here for the game. Pretty much the standard fare when it comes to these things as of late.

In addition to the trailer for Someday You’ll Return, we have a better description of the game's story as it is not truly touched on in the video here. As it goes, we will be taking on the role of Daniel who has a daughter that runs away all the time. She has done it again and something does not sit right with you so you are out to go find her. To do so you will have to search the Moravian forests and use the gameplay mechanics to survive and hopefully find the "good ending" along the way. That is, there will be a Karmic System that will alter events in Someday You’ll Return, a crafting system, and the need to find herbs and other items out in the forest to keep alive. Mix in the fun of having a smartphone the whole time with specific apps, and you will have the twists we will have on the genre.

Have a look at what we have for Someday You’ll Return today and get ready to see if it will bring all the horror to you in the near future.

Someday You’ll Return — Reveal Trailer

What would you do? If your daughter never came home, but you could track her down. Would you go?

It’s not the first time she ran away. But you’re uneasy… this time feels so different. Long ago, you swore never to return here. And now, she has dragged you back. Your search leads deep into ancient Moravian forests and reveals secrets that should have stayed buried.

Your character is Daniel, Stela’s father, who is forced by events to return to this place with its dark memories. In his search, he will encounter peculiar people who may help him understand why Stela tries so hard to leave. Someday You’ll Return deals with intimate concepts of fatherhood, fears, lies and refusal to accept one’s past. While the story contains strong horror elements it’s not always the most obvious monsters which are the most frightening.

Follow Daniel’s through soaring, mystic Bohemian landscapes. For all their beauty, there is a quiet darkness. While your survival skills and quick wits might advance your search, malevolent forces rise up against you. There are nightmares you can’t fight and win. And some of them… could be your own.

When we envisioned the world of Someday You’ll Return, we wanted far more than an atmospheric “walking simulator”. So our design advanced past the basic walk/run/crouch functions. Players will encounter a wide variety of in-game mechanics:

  • Workbench Interface: Create or repair usable game items in a specialized interface
  • Herbalism: Gather natural ingredients and make potions used to overcome unique challenges.
  • Environment Interaction: Wall Climbing, using items on environment and other physical interactions.
  • Smartphone: The normal features of your smartphone: your GPS, mobile light, SMS and phone calls will all play a part in your journey.
  • Karmic System: In Someday You’ll Return your actions matter. The consequences can influence your ending.
  • Stealth & Tracking: Look for clues like footprints etc.
  • Phased day/night cycles

What are you thinking about Someday You’ll Return based on what we all have here for the reveal? Does it sound like it will be more than just another “walking simulator” or will it still boil down to that as there is no description of defending ourselves here? Does the story sound a little fishy here or does it make good sense on why this time is a bit different? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. As we learn more or get more for Someday You’ll Return, we will have it here for you. Just be sure to keep checking in on the site to stay as up to date as possible.
