Green Hell Truly Looks Like It Will Challenge Our Survival Skills

Green Hell

New gameplay for Green Hell is here and it gives us a solid look at just how much we will have to manage is we want to survive this Green Hell

Earlier in the week we had the announcement that Green Hell was coming and that it was going to put us in the middle of "the shit" of surviving the Amazon Rainforest in first-person mode. The idea sounded intriguing and the little bit of gameplay that came with that announcement was fun, but now we have a whole lot more fresh from Creepy Jar that shows off just how much surviving we are going to have to do. Spoiler alert… there is going to be a lot of surviving we will have to do in Green Hell. Like, a whole lot and this is just based on the latest 20-minute gameplay video we have here to look at before the Early Access starts for the PC gamers who are also intrigued by all of this.

When Green Hell was originally announced it was stated that we would have to scavenge and build all kinds of things to keep us going and based on real-world items and expert information. Now we get to see that in action as well as using old-fashioned fixes for ailments and injuries in the game. The demo here starts off showing how we will need to keep inspecting our own body in the game to make sure we are not injured and in this instance, we are and infected. We have to go as far as finding maggots to clean the wound and then making a home-style bandage to keep it from getting infected again. It looks like we are going to truly have to be on point in Green Hell if we want to survive.

There is also a good view of the basic crafting system we will need to use in Green Hell to make spears and torches. I am not sure why we need to have a rope to make a torch, outside of game mechanics, but it is what it is and we will have to do it. At least if we want to survive all of the other dangers out there in the Amazon that we can see here. There also looks to be some other kinds of dangers in Green Hell that we may not have thought about given the wilderness side of things, but I will not spoil that for you just yet. Have a look at the video here and you will most likely see what I am talking about in the game.

Green Hell — 20-Minute Gameplay

Green Hell is a sweltering struggle for survival in the Amazonian rainforest. Clinging to life, the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind. How long can you survive against the dangers of the unknown?

I am also digging the fact that we can also take risks, and are encouraged to do so in instances, with the plant life and other creatures in Green Hell. Seeing as we will get to keep a journal of it all in game it looks like there will be some trial and error that will lead to some fun experiences and untimely deaths. I am totally looking at those glowing mushrooms that were found or the "strange fruit" that is also found. I have seen The Rundown and I know what could happen. At least if Creepy Jar is going down that path in Green Hell. It sounds like it so far but we will not know for certain until some other time.

How are you feeling about Green Hell now that you have had a chance to see some true gameplay for the game? Do you question some of the crafting options in the game or will you be able to ignore it just for game mechanics sakes? Do you think that all of the "weird" items in the game will have some other effect or will some of them be there just to kill you and any prey you try to use it on afterward? Let us all know what you are thinking about down in the comments and then feel free to discuss as you wish. We are definitely keeping a close eye on Green Hell after this and will hopefully have a lot more for you soon. Until then, just stick close to the site and enjoy everything we have to offer.
