Early last year we all caught wind that Mad Catz was filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, was thought to be liquidating, and looking like it would not be coming back to bring us any more hardware to play our games with. It was sad news for a lot and seemed like we would need to start looking to the competition for more of what we wanted for our PC and/or consoles. At least if you are into having flashier things and cool add-ons to make your gaming experience just that little bit extra special. Either way, Mad Catz went down and gamers moved on as they usually do when it comes to things like this. This is of course until now as it looks like the company is back and trying to hit the ground running with some new hardware for us all to give a try and maybe improve our game.
Over the last few days there were a few rumblings out there that Mad Catz could be coming back, and now they are and heading out to this year's CES to show off some of the wares that will be banking on to bring them completely back into the game. It looks like the restructuring and everything went well for them as they do have a new headset, keyboard, and gaming mouse set up to show off and hopefully win us all back after a month of us all thinking them dead in the water. If they will go down the same paths they did as with Rock Band and the like is still up in the air, but we can look to have their products back in the mix here soon. Hopefully, you did not fully give up on Mad Catz as of yet.
Mad Catz — #BackInTheGame
Mad Catz Global Limited, the legendary brand, leading innovation in gaming hardware for almost three decades, announced today a surprise return to the international gaming scene.
Less than a year after the much-loved brand disappeared from the gaming landscape, Mad Catz is back: under new management, with new ideas, new attitude and most importantly, an entire range of new, high-quality gaming products!
Known for their award-winning range of R.A.T. gaming mice, arcade FightSticks, gaming headsets and much more besides, the new Mad Catz will focus first on quality, committed to producing innovative gaming products, designed and engineered in-house to stand out amongst the competition and deliver superlative performance for gamers of all abilities.
At CES 2018, Mad Catz will be previewing the first products in the new range, a line of all-new PC gaming hardware including new R.A.T. mice, S.T.R.I.K.E. keyboards, F.R.E.Q. gaming headsets and G.L.I.D.E. gaming surfaces.
Key products in the new range include the R.A.T.AIR an-all new version of the iconic, fully-adjustable gaming mouse, now with a state-of-the-art wireless power system. The R.A.T.AIR requires no unreliable battery pack to operate, instead drawing power via the wireless activation gaming surface, included in pack. For gamers preferring to use their own gaming surface, the R.A.T.AIR also includes a robust USB cable in pack, instantly converting the R.A.T. to a wired mouse.
The S.T.R.I.K.E.4 gaming keyboard features a fully mechanical key bed, aluminum frame and RGB lighting, and the F.R.E.Q.4 gaming headset, utilizes high-quality 40mm neodymium drivers and a metal plated frame. Further details of new products in the range are expected to be announced shortly.
“We couldn’t be more excited than to begin 2018 by announcing the return of Mad Catz to the global gaming arena. Mad Catz has been a permanent fixture in gaming for almost three decades and we firmly believe it’s best days lie ahead,” said Selena Chang, Director of Sales and Operations for Mad Catz Global Limited. “Through listening to gamers worldwide, we plan to once again forge a path of innovation in the gaming hardware community, and we’re already working on delivering products which we believe will enhance gamers’ abilities and do justice to the Mad Catz name. We can’t wait to unveil a little more at CES 2018 and in the months to come.
Are you glad to see that Mad Catz is back and trying to do what they were good at or do you think it will be another attempt to prolong the inevitable? Do you think that the "restructuring" and new items they have here will bring them back into the gaming world as they once were or will it be another attempt that should not have been given? Could they get back into making items for specific games again or will they stay making generalized hardware to cast as large of a net as possible? Give us all of your thoughts and feelings on this down in the comments and then discuss. Of course, as Mad Catz puts out new products that catch our eyes, we will have it all here for you. We will also be out at CES to take a look at these, so be sure to keep checking back in to see how it all goes.
