Back in 2015, rumors began to circle that there was a MediEvil remake or remaster in the works when a video popped up online showing just that. Everyone swarmed to it thinking it was the case but as it turned out this was just a fan remaking a level in Unreal 4 for fun and not something that Sony was officially working on for the PS4. It was sad to see that, but this version of MediEvil looked amazing and rekindled a lot of hope of getting a new title out of all of it. As it turns out, that excitement and interest was noticed as we are now getting a full remaster of the game on the PS4 sometime in 2018 now. Happy day for all of the fans out there indeed.
There are still very few tidbits of information for this MediEvil remaster as it was only teased during this year's PSX and even the tease did not hold much. You can see it below, but it is truly nothing more than a logo and a quick look at a few seconds of gameplay showing there has been some work done. It will be in 4K resolution though and I am going to guess be the entire first MediEvil title at the very least. Maybe all of the other sequels that came with the franchise given how Crash Bandicoot had that treatment, but for now that is all we get. Not a remake, but a remaster nor a sequel or reboot. Time to grab us all by the nostalgia.
MediEvil — PSX 2017: Teaser Trailer
Hot on the heels of this year’s smash hit Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, we’re making another PlayStation fan dream come true: a proper, PS4-grade resurrection of the original MediEvil just in time for the game’s 20th anniversary.
If you’re not familiar with the MediEvil series, it’s a colorful action-adventure game originally released in 1998 for the original PlayStation system. As the resurrected Sir Daniel Fortesque, players defend Gallowmere from the evil forces of Zarok, a sorcerer with the power to control the dead.
The game is noteworthy for its unique horror-comedy tone and its early contributions to the world of 3D gaming. It’s still a fan favorite, and I’m proud we can resurrect Sir Daniel once again.
How do you feel about the MediEvil remaster that has been officially announced now? Does this bring back all the excitement that the Unreal 4 version of things had or were you hoping for a whole new title and not one you have already made it through? Do you think it will house all of the franchise in one remaster or will it only be the first in the series? Let us have all of those thoughts and hopes down in the comments and then discuss. When we get more on this MediEvil remaster, you will get more. I have a feeling that E3 will be the time, but there may be much more to have leading up to that huge event.
