The Inpatient has been given a release date now and we can also see part of The Inpatient's story leading up to this intense VR psychological thriller title
If you can think back to E3 and remember when The Inpatient was announced for the PS VR, you are already one-step ahead of everyone else here. For those who can't remember that, this would be the next title in the Until Dawn universe that Supermassive Games is bringing us and will place us further into the game than before. Are your memories jogged yet or do you need more for The Inpatient? That does seem to be what the game is all about besides taking you through an interesting branching narrative on November 21st. That is the currently set release date for the game now, so you will have some more time to think about it all and get ready.
Yes, the release date for this game/experience has been set and it looks more and more like the story of The Inpatient will be that of an amnesiac who will be trying to recall all of the events that led up to being placed in Blackwood Sanatorium and thus Until Dawn. At least a little bit for the latter there. Nonetheless, this looks to be the mechanic that will explain away a bit of the gameplay elements of The Inpatient yet still give us the deep and branching story that the franchise has won awards for. Just be glad it is not another rail shooter for those who want to have a real horror feel to it all.
If that is not enough of an explanation for The Inpatient, then let me provide you with the story trailer that has also come along with the release date announcement. It tries to give a bit more without being too revealing, but it looks like it quite a few of the scenes from the E3 demo spliced together to try and make it a fleshed out thing. I have a feeling that it will be better fleshed out once we get in and choose the paths that we want here, as it would ruin The Inpatient by just dropping the core story we should be building from the start. Have a look for yourself and then get ready to wait just a bit longer until it releases on November 21st.
