Star Wars
The full announcement for Star Wars Battlefront II has been given and it looks like we will be diving into fun territories in the Star Wars universe this November
There was a nice little tease last week for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II but over the weekend we all were hit with the full trailer and a whole lot of details out of the huge event that took place. Not too surprising at all that we had a lot more from EA on this game there as it was teased that at least the full trailer would be shown off, but it also came with a lot of interesting twists that DICE will be taking with the IP and franchise. Not that Star Wars Battlefront II is going to change up the canon or lore as we all know it, but with the inclusion of a campaign mode from the start and a few other items we will be looking at the franchise as a whole in a few different ways. Get ready for nerdgasm or nerd-rage to set in though.
The first huge item we have here is that Battlefront II is aiming to have a single player story right from the onset in addition to the 40-player matches in a multiplayer setting. More on that below for now. The story that is being told here though is going to be mostly from the side of the Empire and one of its elite soldiers who was not on board the second Death Star when it too was destroyed as she was slaughtering things on Endor. There are always two sides to a story and now we get to see how those faithful to the Emperor felt when their hero was slain and such. He was a "hero" to some and there is no overlooking that at all.
Star Wars Battlefront II — Full Length Reveal Trailer
Dark-armored troopers stand beneath the smoldering remains of the shield generator on the Forest Moon of Endor. Their faces turn skyward to the distant menace of the Death Star looming overhead, a symbol of order in a war-torn galaxy. Like the Empire itself, the colossal battle station stands immutable, impregnable, and eternal. And with a flash of white, it explodes into a midday star.
Welcome to Star Wars Battlefront II, with a new story mode taking players on an epic journey from the battle of Endor to the rise of the First Order. The prequels, original trilogy, and new era meet in a vast multiplayer adventure coming November 17th to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin on PC. If you're a member of Origin Access or EA Access, you'll be able to start playing on November 9th.
Star Wars Battlefront II introduces a new single-player Star Wars story. You play the role of Commander Iden Versio, leader of the Galactic Empire’s elite special forces unit, Inferno Squad. After witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star, Iden’s team embarks on an extraordinary odyssey of revenge, betrayal, and redemption spanning the 30 year gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Along the way, she and her companions encounter a cast of Star Wars' greatest characters. You'll take control of many of these beloved heroes in an adventure ranging across a series of fantastic planets, including awe-inspiring settings you've never seen before.
In addition to the campaign and story we will be getting here in Star Wars Battlefront II, the real meat and potatoes of the game will still lay in the multiplayer of it all. As mentioned, DICE will be giving us some epic 40-player matches in areas and eras across all of the different generations that the films take place in. Given that the eighth film will be out a month after Battlefront II launches I am going to guess that there will be a few teases and hints mixed in for the eagle-eyed. Given the fan base for the franchise I am sure that speculation and rumors will start flying within hours of the game's official launch.
Also making a huge comeback will be the fact that you can also play as your favorite hero/villain in Star Wars Battlefront II just with a larger array of characters to choose from. The trailer here definitely teases quite a few, but as it sounds, if they were a huge name in any of the films out there then it is safe to assume they will be playable at some point. Although EA does state that it is the main films so I am going to guess that any of the cast from Rogue One might be left out, but I know I'd be tickled pink to see almost any of those characters show up or even have a map based on specific events in that film. I can dream and hopefully be heard.
Have you lost your mind over the new Star Wars Battlefront II trailer here or was it still too small of a sample to be certain? Are you ready for an epic fight between Yoda and Darth Maul or does that still break your brain? Let us know in the comments below and then discuss. As we find out more for Star Wars Battlefront II we will have it here for you. The PR has just begun and there will be a lot more as we head onward toward November 17th.
