If It Wasn't For Gamers Resident Evil 7 May Not Have Had VR Support

Resident Evil 7

The third video for Resident Evil 7's making of series has been released and we get to see just how Resident Evil 7 got the VR support it has

It's not uncommon that the wants and needs of gamers help shape their games, but as it turns out for Resident Evil 7, it looks like we all were the basis for one specific feature to be added into the game. That feature being the VR support that came with the PS4 version of the game as it turns out that Capcom wasn't originally keen on having it in there. Understandably so as it is still a budding technology and they really needed Resident Evil 7 to be the game that brought the franchise back into the lime light. Thanks to all of us though, it was shown that the game could flourish with the support if they were able to get it into the engine. All thanks to a nice little E3 demo and our reactions.

That's right, the Kitchen demo from 2015 that was shown off as an early and hidden build for Resident Evil 7 is what caused the higher ups to give the VR aspect a go. I do want to emphasize on the reactions as it was all of us acting like a scared idiot in the back room of the Sony booth that was shown off to convince them and not a chance to play the little demo. All of which can be seen in the latest "Making Of" video that we have here for Resident Evil 7 just below. Now it is hard to think that there are still people out there who have yet to experience the game in this form and hopefully it will goad them to bring the feature to the other versions given the further capabilities that can be there.

Resident Evil 7 — Hell's Kitchen!

Uncover the secrets behind the development of Resident Evil 7, the multi-million selling latest entry in the hit survival horror series.

In this episode, we look at how "Kitchen" was a turning point for implementing VR in the main game. We dive deeper into how VR became a reality and how "Kitchen" was a turning point in the direction for Resident Evil 7!

There is only one more of these slated for release from Capcom and I'm guessing it is to tide us all over as we wait for the next DLC drop for Resident Evil 7. If you missed out on the previous videos, you can see them here and then further your mind as to how this bit of horror has crept into our lives. I know these aren't for everyone, but it is interesting to see a Resident Evil 7 that could have been or how we ended up with the version we had all because we demanded a bit more out of our horror games. They do listen to us and have a laugh at our expense. See?

Are you glad that Resident Evil 7 had some VR support or was it something you missed out on due to the limitations? Do you think that the other platforms will get the VR support or will it stay the soul property of the PS4 for this game? What other features do you think that we influenced or was this the big one and nothing more? Let us know down in the comments and then discuss.
