Hellblade
The latest developer diary for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has released and this one focuses on the myths of Hellblade's world as well as Senua's madness
Another new developer diary for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been placed out there to give us all an update on how far along Ninja Theory has made it for the game. It looks like they have already officially hit the Alpha stage for the game and is currently playable from start to finish. Now is just the time for them to focus on making everything look and play just as great as it sounds Hellblade's story will be. Exciting times for all of us who have been trying to keep up with the game and have been wanting to see the game hit the PS4 and PC already. We are now that much closer to getting to experience it all and hopefully the 2017 release window will stick.
On top of that announcement in the following developer diary, we also have a new look at how the real-world mythology and studies into human insanity have been blended further in Hellblade. This may not be interesting to most gamers out there who just want to have a fun experience, but it does look like the team is truly trying more than just making a great game but also shed some light on the human mind and how fragile it could be. Also, how some of the practices and beliefs from the mythology link into the altered perceptions that could have caused some of the weirdness and horrors that lay within Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. This has always been the bigger appeal to me for the game so I'm sorry for pushing that more and more.
While all of that may sound boring to some, we do have a lot of new gameplay to look at here for Hellblade spliced into all of the how it is made footage. It also includes a few new areas and a look at Ninja Theory's take on the Norse version of the Underworld or Hell depending on how you want to take it. It looks like those true nightmares that the normal human mind can make up to explain all of the messed-up things in life. It looks truly impressive and I hope the Alpha stage is only a short process and they move to beta and finally gold in a quick manner. I just want to finally play Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is more the reason.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice — Myths & Madness
As we complete our Alpha stage of development for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice we wanted to share a new development diary with you. Episode 26, Myths & Madness, explores how Senua’s journey is one that is intertwined with both her experiences of psychosis and Viking mythology.
Completing the Alpha stage is significant in Hellblade’s creation. It means that for the first time the entire game is playable from beginning to end. That doesn’t however mean that the game is finished. There is still a huge amount of work to be done across the whole experience. Some parts of the game are starting to look and feel just as we envisaged, whereas others are still only built to a basic level. The important thing at this stage is that all of the areas are laid out and the design clearly defined. Two years of hard work by the Hellblade team is starting to pay off and we’re ready for the next stage: Beta. This is where we can focus on the player experience – looking at the game step-by-step, improving it along the way, honing how the game will look and feel to our players. It is at this stage that we will start to add a lot of the small details that make a big difference.
Are you excited to see that Hellblade is finally in a place where it can be played from start to finish and the team is now just focusing on the polish for the game? Do you think they will still fully make the 2017 release year or will they be moving into an early 2018 slot? What do you think about the new areas that we had to see here and do you think that it is only the start of some true horrors in Senua's mind? Let us know all your thoughts on this down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. Once we see more for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, we will bring it right to you.
