Rise Of The Tomb Raider Is Getting VR Support On The PS4

Tomb Raider

The official announcement of Rise Of The Tomb Raider on the PS4 has been made and it looks like Rise Of The Tomb Raider is getting new content and PSVR support

The rumors that Rise Of The Tomb Raider was coming to the PS4 look to have been validated as Square Enix has given the official word on a new 20 Year Celebration edition of the game coming not only to the PS4 but also the Xbox One and PC. All on October 11th just as the rumors stated. The only thing that the rumors didn't state about Rise Of The Tomb Raider was the fact that Crystal Dynamics is also bringing us a new Endurance mode, a new story chapter, and VR support for the PS4 version of the game. It looks like we will get to run around Croft Manor in style while donning some crazy head gear in our homes.

All of the additions will be available for current Season Pass owners of Rise Of The Tomb Raider for free so they won't miss out on a single thing except for the VR support. While the support isn't coming to the PC version of the game seems a bit odd it just isn't. It is only linked to the new story bit titled Blood Ties so it isn't like the whole game will be letting us go in via VR so it may not be much for them. It just looks to be a little bit extra for those PlayStation fans who had to wait almost a year to continue the story that we all started with the reboot not too long ago. I know I'm glad to see the addition even if it isn't all that much.

The bigger addition to Rise Of The Tomb Raider does look to be the new Endurance Mode which will let us all play the game in a co-op mode. From the sounds of it all, we will have to team up with a buddy to survive everything in the game as normal just we will have some kind of help. The buddy system works in real life so why wouldn't work in a game like this where danger is around us at all times. At least danger in terms of fictional and exaggerated just for the game. All to compete on leaderboard and show it all off. Woot!

Rise Of The Tomb Raider — Scavenger Hunt 2.0

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix continue to celebrate 20 years of Lara Croft, the gaming world’s iconic heroine, with fans around the world by announcing today that Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will launch on PlayStation4 on Oct. 11, 2016. Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will include the award-winning Rise Of The Tomb Raider game, a completely new story chapter entitled “Blood Ties”, new co-op Endurance gameplay, PlayStation VR support for “Blood Ties”, all of the previously released DLC, more outfits, weapons, and Expedition Cards. The Limited Edition of the game will also feature a limited edition art book.

With the exception of VR support, all of the new content in Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will also be available for Xbox One and PC players. Current Season Pass owners on Xbox One and PC will automatically receive the content for free, and moving forward the existing Season Pass will be updated to include the new content. There is no Season Pass on PlayStation 4, as all of the content is included in the initial release.

In addition, for the first time in a Tomb Raider game, a new online co-op expansion to Endurance mode lets fans raid tombs in a brutal wilderness together. Two players must team up to survive the harsh elements by day, as well as lethal threats from enemies by night. Fire takes fuel, food restores health, and every resource must be hunted, collected, or crafted. Battle to the top of the leaderboards, as others try to beat your longest survival run.
