Styx: Shards Of Darkness Sneaks Its Way Onto The Announcement Scene

Styx

Following the great reception for the Styx franchise from last year, we have the sequel Styx: Shards Of Darkness getting an announcement today

It looks like that amazing little stealth game Styx: Master Of Shadows was as great of a success as I know I was hoping for that we are getting a sequel called Styx: Shards Of Darkness. Yes, you read that right. Cyanide Studios and Focus Home Interactive are bringing Styx back next year for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Like it or not this quirky little stealth game that some stated was a Thief knock-off is getting a sequel and I couldn't be more excited to see Styx: Shards Of Darkness. Let's put the excitement aside and dig into what is going on here.

In all actuality there isn't much more to say for Styx: Shards Of Darkness at this point. Outside of the fact that Cyanide Studios proved themselves more with the last title that have been given a bigger budget for this Styx: Shards Of Darkness than they had before. Also it looks like they are upgrading game engines and moving to the Unreal 4 engine which we all know is an amazing engine based on what other titles have been out so far. Also it looks like Focus Home Interactive has given us the first screenshot for Styx: Shards Of Darkness and a small overview of the game's story.

Styx: Shards Of Darkness — Announcement

Following the fall of Akenash tower, an extraordinary matter has forced Styx out of hiding to infiltrate Körangar, the city of the Dark Elves. Supposedly impregnable, a diplomatic summit offers Styx a chance at slipping in unnoticed, as he learns that the event is nothing but a mere facade... Moreover, the Elves have joined forces with the Dwarves, and the only thing both races have in common is a mutual hatred of the Goblins...

So now we have all the other fantasy creatures out there hating us in Styx: Shards Of Darkness? If the humans were not bad enough and the treasure not gained awesome enough from before; now we have elves and dwarf trying to muck things up? Looks like the world of Styx just needs to be burned and start from zero again. I guess that may just be the goal in Styx: Shards Of Darkness if Cyanide Studios doesn't want to end the franchise there. Wouldn't work out well for the franchise but it is what needs to happen in the world of Styx. I just want to be able to stab and poison more people from the shadows I guess…

Enough on my thoughts though, what do you think about the announcement of Styx: Shards Of Darkness? Do you think Cyanide Studios can win again with this title or do you think it was just a lucky strike before? How about all that detail in the screenshot above? Let us know what you think down in the comments and discuss away. I am hoping for more on Styx: Shards Of Darkness here soon and when Focus Home Interactive releases it into the wild we will have it here for you so be sure to keep checking back in for more on Styx: Shards Of Darkness.
