Deus Ex
The pre-order campaign for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been altered, or canceled, due to Deus Ex fans being upset and voicing said rage
It looks like the people have spoken and the pre-order program for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been shifted back to something that is more akin to what we are used to. You may remember back in August when Square Enix announced that there was going to be an odd tiered pre-order bonus chart for those who shelled out the cash for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The more people who pre-ordered the game the higher the rewards that everyone would get. It caused a lot of confusion but in the end it boiled down to the fact that if not a lot of people pre-ordered Eidos Montreal's latest Deus Ex then you could end up with fewer bonus. All of which to try and drive up pre-orders as much as possible before February 23rd.
This of course did not go over well with a lot of the Deus Ex fans out there and opinions were voiced. As I mentioned above, it looks like Square Enix has heard you all and has chosen to cancel the Augment You Pre-Order campaign in the wake of it all. No they have not canceled pre-orders all together; they have just modified the whole program to make sure Deus Ex were going to all be getting the version of Mankind Divided from Eidos Montreal that they truly want. Sounds similar to the original idea but this has calmed the fires for now.
What is happening with the new pre-order incentives for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is that anyone who pre-orders the game before February 23rd will receive all of the DLC that was listed. So pretty much the Collector's Edition of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided sans the Steelbook, Statue, and Artbook. That is still offered but the access to all of the DLC no matter what is being given to anyone who pre-orders the game. Surprisingly there has been no announcement of the price dropping there given the changes made to the Mankind Divided pre-order incentive being augmented but at least you'll get that statue.
The other main change to the pre-orders here is that the early access tier has been removed for everyone as well. This was the incentive that if Square Enix reached a 100% pre-order rate that everyone would get access to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided four days earlier than the street date. I think this should have stayed the case for those who pre-ordered the collector's edition but we all can't have our cake and eat it too. Maybe if anyone from Eidos Montreal reads this they can make that suggestion to give a little extra bonus to those shelling out the extra cash for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided but I doubt that will ever happen. As if anyone would read this.
Are you glad that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has gone back to a traditional pre-order program or did you think the Augment Your Pre-Order program had merit? Do you think that the collector's edition still needs something further as one of the big bonuses has now been removed? Do you think that Eidos Montreal will actually read this? Let us know what you think in the comments below and discuss away. If anything changes here or Square Enix issues and update we will have it all right here for all of you Deus Ex fans so be sure to keep checking back so you know everything you can.
