It looks like all those prayers worked everyone as Rise Of The Tomb Raider is now officially heading to the PS4 and PC. That's great news for everyone except the PS3 owners. The bad news in this is that it will be another year before Crystal Dynamics will be able to get Rise Of The Tomb Raider off the Xbox 360 and Xbox One as both versions are slated for a 2016 release window. The PC version getting an "Early 2016" and the PS4 version getting a "Holiday 2016" timeline. None the less Rise Of The Tomb Raider's state of being only on Xbox will only be for November 10th and moving into next year until the other platforms get their go at the game.
If this news sounds a bit familiar you would not be wrong. Earlier this month there was a rumor that Rise Of The Tomb Raider would be landing this kind of release window but as it was only rumor we shouldn't have taken it to heart. The following news comes right from Square Enix so I am pretty sure that unless their email was hacked and someone is playing a huge prank we can expect to have Rise Of The Tomb Raider on all the major consoles minus the PS3. I'm guessing that it is too hard to port the 360 version over to the PS3 or some such thing. Not sure how they are going about it. We can only hope that a third party isn't being hired to move Rise Of The Tomb Raider to the other platforms
Square Enix today announced its latest title in the critically acclaimed and award-winning Tomb Raider® series, Rise Of The Tomb Raider ®, will be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016. The game will be a console exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox 360 for one year after its initial launch, coming to PlayStation® 4 (PS4) in Holiday 2016. Renowned developer Crystal Dynamics, a Square Enix studio, is leading development in the latest entry in the iconic series for additional platforms.
In not so many words, there you have it though. It is completely confirmed Rise Of The Tomb Raider will be hitting PC and PS4 next year. Now we can all calm down and spend a year trying to avoid spoilers for the game is we don't plan on playing it on Xbox. I do hope that moving forward other companies will see how many issues this caused for gamers out there and try not to do this kind of thing again. The Tomb Raider reboot was such an amazing game and it seemed insane to alienate a huge chunk of the audience for a quick payday. Especially since the franchise got its real start on PC and for most on the PlayStation systems shortly after that. We live. We learn. Now Rise Of The Tomb Raider for all.
