It looks like, if rumors are true, that MVP PlayStation 4 owners may be getting a firmware beta testing program. I state rumors as this information is all based on a few emails and screenshots that have been spread online showing off that this is fact and a few things that may be included in the next PS4 firmware release. This would be the 2.50 version and not some small "stability" update as these images and everything detail a few new features we may be getting on the PS4 in the near future.
According to the "leaked" information this would be a similar service as Microsoft has already for the Xbox One. Also according to all of the screenshots and emails this service will be made available to PlayStation MVPs who opt-in for the program which would allow them to download and test out the new features a little before released to the general gaming community. For this start-up MVP members should receive an email or PSN message to allow them to get the new 2.50 firmware before March 9th.
As for the new features that have been rumored to be in this next firmware would allow us to place the PS4 in standby mode without exiting out of any games or apps you have currently open. Why that is something that people have been asking for I don't know but that is the big listed item. Other features include the removal of PlayStation Trophies that are listed as 0% completion and the ability to Share Play games at 60 frames per second. Those would be bigger items in my opinion but you all are fickle creatures in the end.
I do get the concept behind this kind of program but do we all really want to give PlayStation free beta testing for their firmware? Is it really some kind of bragging right to have the latest firmware on your system before anyone else? Like I said, it makes no sense to me but you all apparently love in from Microsoft so why shouldn't PlayStation follow suit? Is this something you personally want? Let us know in the comments below.
