It would seem that there was a whole lot more to that little demo shown at E3 that we didn't get to see. At Gamescom it looks like Quantic was more than glad to show that all off. Finally some game play as well as a bit into what is going on in the game other than some girl going crazy and people and things exploding. While David Cage breaks it down better in the video, here's a little bit into what is going on.
It seems that Jodie has an entity tied to her that we players get to control. It is more or less a ghost that is tethered. With said ghost she is able to do quite a bit of things. Things like possession, killing enemies, scouting and moving/shoving objects. All of these using what look to be like similar controls that seem staple in the developer's nature. Think a bit of Heavy Rain here.
While it all looks awesome and has the game completely on my radar now I do have to say that there is one thing that stands out, the walking through solid objects. Normally in games there is so little effort on the developer's other than turning off certain bounding boxes but here there is detail to everything you walk through. Didn't catch it? Watch the video and pay attention when the camera goes through the cars. You see the frame of the vehicle and all that jazz. I just hope if you do it to a human you get to see all the innards as well. That might be asking for too much.
