The game ended leaving a want for a sequel from Ninja Theory. But they moved on to make another amazing game, Enslaved: Odyssey To The West, with no mention of when a possible sequel could be in development. That is until UK PlayGamer magazine was able to squeeze Sony for details as Ninja Theory will not be working on the PS3 exclusive.
They are very slim pickings for now, but here is what was let loose:
- The game will be moving to an Open World sandbox from the linear level play.
- The story will pick up 10 years after Heavenly Sword.
- The missions are noted to be replayable.
- The environments will be more interactive with rumors of deformable scenery and improvised weapons from said deformities.
- The Heavenly Sword will not be available from the start and players will have to "earn it."
- The rumor is that players will earn it by mastering the basic martial arts and sword skills.
Why no mention of Kai? Will she not be one of the focal points of the story? Nariko did die at the end of the game with Kai "taking on Nariko's task", so I'm not sure why they would jump so far ahead. Then again Ninja Theory is not the developer here so it is left open to whoever Sony is tasking. I totally can't wait to hear more at E3 in a month.
