As the Juggernaut, Cain battled several incarnations of the X-men as well as many other established heroes in the Marvel Universe. For a time, he teamed with Black Tom Cassidy, a mutant who shared a hatred for family members as his cousin was the heroic X-man Banshee. For a time, Cain seemed to reform his ways. As part of a plot to destroy the X-men from within, he joined them though he was later betrayed by Black Tom. Cain took up an offer from his step-brother to stay with them at the mansion where he would meet a young boy named Sammy Paré. Cain and Sammy shared a similar history as both were bullied and abused by their respective fathers. During his time with the X-men though, Cain’s power began to weaken. Following the Civil War, he was informed by Cyttorak himself that the power of the Juggernaut was that of total destruction and that Cain would need to embrace this nature once again to return to full strength. Cain did so in time to battle the Hulk to a virtual standstill. He later informed Charles that he has forgone his attempts at redemption and takes his leave.
Through the powers of the Ruby of Cyttorak, Cain is transformed into the Juggernaut. As such he possesses immense strength, durability, and stamina. His abilities are on par with some of the most powerful individuals in the Marvel universe including Hercules, Thor, and the Incredible Hulk. Juggernaut has been able to knock down an entire skyscraper with relative ease while another occasion saw him rip a building out of the ground and wield it as a giant weapon. Most recently he fought the Hulk and was able to battle him to something of a standstill. He is also surrounded by a near impenetrable force field that aids in his invulnerability. Juggernaut has withstood the most powerful blasts from various cosmic entities and Marvel deities. Both his strength and his durability are at the peak when Juggernaut is moving. When he gets moving, there are very few objects or beings capable of stopping the Juggernaut’s momentum. Along with his physical powers, the Cyttorak Gem bestowed upon Cain a suit of armor whose helmet makes him highly resistant to psychic attacks.
Though he is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, Juggernaut is just another tank-character when it comes to video games. He was not present during the first Ultimate Alliance and only a villain in the first X-men Legends. The sequel, Rise of the Apocalypse, first featured Juggernaut as a playable character along with three other members of the Brotherhood. The majority of his attacks were massive physical punches, many of which included either knockback or stun abilities. He also had a bulrush-type of attack where he would put his head down and charge through any enemy in his path. Still as useful as he was, Juggernaut was a little boring. In Ultimate Alliance 2 there is no shortage of tank characters with the Thing, Hulk, and Luke Cage all in the mix but I think it would be a wiser choice to go with some of the more multirole characters like Thor or Venom. They tend to offer a level of physical damage that is nearly on par with others but with the added advantage of having a more varied power arsenal that give them extended range or deal other types of damage such as electrical or cold. Still a straight forward tank like the Juggernaut could work out well if supported by the right team. As a side note, anyone eagerly anticipating the Juggernaut’s appearance will have to get their Gamestop preorders in as he is an exclusive character and he will only be making an appearance on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.
