Recently Ororo has rekindled her relationship with T’Challa whom she had meant during her time in the Serengeti. T’Challa, also known as the superhero Black Panther, is the current king of Wakanda. The two eventually marry making Ororo the reigning queen. Following the events of the Messiah Complex, Ororo returns to assist the X-men. During the Civil War she, like her husband, remained neutral until the death of Bill Foster convinced them to side against the Pro-Registration forces and join Captain America. When the Civil War concluded, both Storm and T’Challa were invited to join the Fantastic Four by Reed and Sue Richards who went on hiatus to repair the damage the Civil War had done to their marriage.
Storm is a mutant whose power is nearly at the Omega level. Her ability to mentally control the weather allows her to have an incredibly wide array of offensive and defensive abilities. She can control various aspects of the weather including temperature, humidity, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure. She can generate lightning from the sky while also absorbing electromagnetic energy to channel powerful electric blasts from her hands. As her codename implies, Ororo can generate all types of storms including tornadoes, hurricanes, and blizzards. Her abilities are so refined that she can generate wind powerful enough to elevate her and fly and can also control the air within a person’s lungs. She can produce mist and utilize moisture to bend light causing herself to become transparent or even invisible. Her connection to the weather is so strong that extreme changes in her emotional state can cause violent storms. She has also demonstrated on several occasions the ability to control the weather of extraterrestrial planets. Storm also has a strong connection to the magic as many of her ancestors have acted as priestesses. An early ancestor of hers named Ayesha even held the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Aside from her mutant powers, Storm is an exceptionally thief and a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. She has also demonstrated an excellent mind for strategy and a talent for leadership.
Storm’s weather powers made her an incredibly versatile character in both X-men Legends games and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but typically I’ve stayed away from using her because her damage output is a little low and her energy usage is too high. She is made to be a ranged flier, and when I do choose to use her I like to focus on building her as a pure offensive spellcaster. It’s just fun. Typically I use her Chain Lightning, Lightning Strike, Blizzard/Hail Storm, and Whirlwind attacks. Chain Lightning is not very strong, but it is capable of attacking multiple enemies for as long as you keep it going. Sometimes Lightning Strike worked better in place of Chain Lightning, particularly against boss characters because of the low amount of EP it uses. Blizzard/Hail Storm wasn’t exactly a devastating attack, but it did cause an enemy to run around the room in fear. What would you do if you had an ice storm attached to you? The added damage to any enemies he came near with the storm wasn’t great either, but every little bit helps. Whirlwind was always Storm’s best power though. This fire and forget ability generated a massive tornado that would travel around the room and damage anything that came near it. Personally I’ve always found Thor’s abilities to deal more damage making him a better choice, but if there’s one thing I’ll say, Storms weather powers allow her to deal different types of damage. Someone who can bring physical, electricity, and cold damage to a battle will always be useful in some capacity.
