Subliminal
Slip into another realm with Subliminal, with the PC launch for Subliminal happening as you read this
It is always interesting to see when things slip out through the cracks, and it seems as if Subliminal has launched out there on the PC with very little buildup. That could be on us for missing things in the insanity of releases, but it does also feel as if the developer was just ready to drop this title. No matter the case, get ready to slip into another liminal space with the launch of Subliminal. A title that is taking us into the idea of The Backrooms, but with a little more color and bouncy houses to play around in. Well, at least with the first episode of the game, as that is what seems to have launched out there as of now. Not that we all expected this to be an episodic release in the wild.
Those who have been following along with Subliminal the whole time will know that this was an undertaking for the developer. A massive one, but they have finally made it, so we can forgive the episode listing there. Especially as we get to see how the time and effort have gone into the level designs in the game to give us something that not only looks stunning, but is designed to give us some fun new puzzles to mess around with in the universe. Not to mention, we get a little look at the darkness that is coming to Subliminal in the mix of the launch trailer. This is something that has not been truly highlighted as of yet, even if we all knew it was going to have to come at some point. Have a look at it all in the following trailer, or give the demo a try, or just pick up the first part of this game to make sure we all get to see it come to a solid ending.
Subliminal — Launch Trailer
Subliminal is a psychological horror game inspired by the urban legend of The Backrooms. Bleeding-edge lighting and rendering, handcrafted open-ended levels, light and perspective-based puzzles, nostalgic spaces, unfamiliar faces, and a rotting feeling that something is not quite right. Subliminal: Episode 1 releases March 31, 2026, on Steam.
A note from Sven, the Lead Developer of Subliminal: To everyone who’s waited years alongside us for Subliminal to release, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here. It’s taken quite a decent while, but WE MADE IT!! I can’t wait to see what you think :)
Did you keep up on Subliminal, and were you ready to slip into this new experience to have? Will the episodic release just be a way to get little chunks of the game out there as the developer works on it, or will we truly see it slowly released over months now? Did you expect this game to be just a happy walking simulation title, or were you ready for some of the darkness that the inspiration usually brings into the games out there? Let us have all of that discussion in the comment section further down the page here. Now that the core of Subliminal, expect us to offer up the updates as they flow in for the game and its future. Please keep on coming back to the website to see all of those updates, and also watch all of our social channels to make sure you do not have any more slip by you.
