Nintendo & American Heart Association To Get You Off The Couch
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 17th of May 2010 - 05:45 PM ]
Today Nintendo and the American Heart Association announced a partnership to get you off your couch and be active. Throwing around various statistics and knowing gamers, the two powerhouses look to empower gamers to become active, make time for exercise and enjoy getting fit. Along with the announcement comes the unveiling of a new website to inform users of how they can get involved at home using Nintendo products and across the country with AHA's Start! Heart Walks. As much as I want to be cynical and sarcastic about how this is simply a business move to sell more Wii's or how the AHA is just piggybacking on the success of Nintendo's console or how it is only a vehicle to sell the Wii Vitality Sensor, I'm going to restrain myself, be positive and optimistic. Not between those two though, but between a couple smaller companies, Petroglyph Games and True Games. Before you ask, no it is not about who gets to keep "Games" in their title. EA Presents The Online Pass
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 11th of May 2010 - 10:35 PM ]
Game companies are becoming craftier and craftier concerning how they treat used game sales. It is no surprise that the selling of a previously owned title does little to nothing for any given company financially, and as such, companies have to become sly with what they do to combat this perceived threat. Well thankfully Electronic Arts, the worldwide leader in innovation and consumer-friendly practices, presents: The Online Pass. How does this modern jewel of a system work? Read More...

Nintendo Wii To Have New Pack-ins, Color
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 4th of May 2010 - 05:36 PM ]
Nintendo announced today that beginning on Sunday May 9th, all new Wii consoles will ship with a copy of Wii Sports Resort, a wiimote, a nunchuck and a Wii Motion Plus. You will also have a choice between the classic white or the brand new black color. Now six months after the release of Wii Sports Resort and the Wii Motion Plus, Nintendo has waited an appropriate amount of time to make sure the bundled peripheral had plenty of legs, netting them the largest bundle of cash they could muster. They certainly did not want holiday shoppers to get a good deal. They wanted the system sale AND the Wii Sports Resort sale. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 29th of March 2010 - 03:17 PM ]
So Civilization fans will be happy to know that 2K Games was kind enough to show at PAX East that they will be coming out with a brand new Civilization game called... Civilization V. Nice title huh? You are probably wondering why they would want to make another Civilization game after the success of Civilization IV? Just like any games with a huge success rate, there were features that were taken out due to time, money, or wasn't able to be fit into the previous titles. Yes there are DLC and companies could always add them in later, but what if the engine was not equip to handle the features for the DLC, than what? Read More...

Review: Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 25th of February 2010 - 06:14 PM ]
Wait, Vandal Hearts is still around? Why yes they are. Hijinx Studio and Konami recently released Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment for the XBox Live and PlayStation Network and did a reasonably good job with the game. I just find it a bit random that out of all the Konami franchises, that Vandal Hearts was the one they chose to release. In any case let see how this Japanese turn-based RPG do. If you have played any turn-based tactical RPGs like Ogre Tactics, Disgaea, or Final Fantasy Tactics than you will be familiar with the game and will find a few innovations. Read More...

The Force Is Strong With George Lucas' Wallet
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 24th of February 2010 - 04:20 PM ]
For a game that many people wrote off for shoddy controls and questionable graphical quality, The Force Unleashed has reached the "sold seven million units worldwide" mark. The charm of the title was perhaps not that it was a new entry in the Star Wars canon, but that it was somewhat decent and not a BioWare title. For me, it was the combination of finally feeling in control of a being that was a serious Force-powerhouse and getting a fresh spin on what can sometimes be a very stale mythology. Lucasarts is not satisfied with this meager accomplishment and is already pushing forward on a sequel that is coming this year. Read More...

There Will Be Blood This Wednesday
by Kevin [ Tuesday, 19th of January 2010 - 10:38 PM ]
No, unfortunately, this does not mean that Daniel Day Lewis will be abandoning his child (abandoning his boy), and being a gracious oilman on our next generation consoles. Nay, this deals with the blood that will be spilled via two downloadable titles coming this Wednesday on XBox Live and PSN. Death by Cube (800 ($10)) is a little gem by Square Enix with a story that suggests a sweet abundance of man's most precious videogame resource, violence, "Leo is a robot, one who awakes to find that he has lost his memory. All he knows is that he must reboot the heroine robot, so he sets forth on a mission hoping to regain his memory. To his surprise, he finds the world is now filled with battalions of enemy robots, drenched in bright red oil, and shooting bullets every direction. Read More...

A Whole New Medal of Honor
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 2nd of December 2009 - 09:02 PM ]
Are you ready for another Medal of Honor game? Well it has been a while since we have seen action in the Medal of Honor universe. What if I told you that this Medal of Honor won’t take place in World War II, but instead it takes place in modern era?  Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that in 2010 an all-new Medal of Honor will introduce the Tier 1 Operator, a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle. EA has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience. Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer of Medal of Honor had this to say, “When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier, but bring it into today’s war. Starcraft 2 Website Has A Media Explosion
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 20th of November 2009 - 04:49 PM ]
Starcraft II's website just had a content explosion all over the screen. The website has new screenshots, some from the game and others from the cinematic, and they look phenomenal. I think that if these detailed shots of in-game cinematic are any indication, this game is going to take Starcraft players to a whole new, long awaited, adventure.    The features page is where all the fun is though. They have new videos highlighting the single player and multiplayer scenarios. Read More...
