Save Money With Microsoft?
by Kevin [ Monday, 24th of May 2010 - 08:19 PM ]
Well, there's nothing quite like a 50% off coupon for games, and I think we can all agree that when the games available for that deal are actually good then that makes the deal that much sweeter. Microsoft has a nice little deal going on over at the Microsoft Store for some select titles. There are a nice amount games on the list right now and I think after you look over it, you'll be making your way to the website. The list of games includes: Tony Hawk: RIDE Skateboard Bundle NCAA Football 10 Madden NFL 10 Street Fighter IV Resident Evil 5 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Overlord II Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution DJ Hero Bundle Mercenaries 2: World in Flames Star Ocean: The Last Hope Ghostbusters: The Video Game Infinite Undiscovery Battlefield: Bad Company Batman: Arkham Asylum Where the Wild Things Are Lego Star Wars Complete Saga The Orange Box Army of Two Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 Guitar Hero Metallica NBA 2K10 Spider-Man: Friend or Foe Rock Band Track Pack Classic Rock Guitar Hero: Smash Hits Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Kit X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Edition Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Bioshock Spider-Man: Web of Shadows Shaun White Snowboarding Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood FUEL Left 4 Dead 2 Tom Clancy's H. The Gamecenter: Wal-Mart's Answer to Amazon?
by Kevin [ Monday, 24th of May 2010 - 03:29 PM ]
Wal-Mart, one of the reigning kings of discount department stores, is entering the on-line space occupied by places like Amazon. Gamecenter is "a one-shop stop for all the greatest news and previews and exclusives." Currently, the deals I see on the site involve providing gift-eCards for certain purchases, a "buy 2, get 1 free" for XBox 360 Platinum Hits, and if you pre-order three games you'll get a $50 gift card. The games have to be from a pre-defined list, and they do all have to be for the same platform though. Not bad. Read More...

Increase Your Credit-ability By Pre-Ordering Madden NFL 11
by Kevin [ Sunday, 7th of February 2010 - 09:25 PM ]
Well, seeing as how today is such a special day for football fans, it seems only right to present a deal for the current king of console gridiron - the John Madden NFL series.  Personally, I'm a 2k man, but since that series has gone the way of the dodo, I present a special deal to entice the Madden community. Both Amazon and Wal-Mart are having deals concerning the newest iteration of the title.Amazon proudly proclaims, "Get a $20 Video Games Credit: Pre-order Madden NFL 11, forWii, PS2, or Xbox 360, and get $20 off a future video game purchase. An Electrifying Deal: inFamous' Price Cut
by Kevin [ Sunday, 6th of December 2009 - 03:29 AM ]
For those who have no idea, inFamous was a title released this past spring for the Playstation 3. It was a sandbox game that dropped you in the middle of a war torn city on the verge of social collapse while leading you into an overarching mystery that dealt with the origin on your character, Cole. The game did pretty darn well for Sucker Punch and Sony, selling over a million copies to date. And what better way to celebrate that milestone than by marking down the game for the unitiated!Well, Playstation mentioned that the title is now going for $39. Read More...

Nico + Ryu + The Force x Zombies = Platinum
by Kevin [ Thursday, 8th of October 2009 - 08:25 PM ]
That's a heck of a visual isn't it? GTA IV, Street Fighter IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleased, Left 4 Dead, and Saints Row 2 are the latest candidates for the Platinum Hits treatment. A nice line-up to be certain and a great opportunity to jump aboard and experience these titles if you haven't done so already. It seems like the titles were chosen pretty strategically because with several of the games you have either had a) new content announced and coming soon, b) new content released, or c) sequels approaching. In celebration of these latest additions to the Platinum Hits Collection line-up, some retailers are offering a “Buy 2 –Get 1 Free” promotion for XBox Platinum Hits Collection titles. Read More...

Seeing Red Daily
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 19th of August 2009 - 04:05 PM ]
Another contender, albeit an interesting one, in the area of game rental and availability - Redbox, more known for its kiosks which seem to be everywhere from Royal Farms to McDonald's, will now be offering games for the DS, Wii, Playstations 2&3, and Xbox 360 for a sum of $2 nightly. For most gamers, GameFly seems to be the go to source for gaming rentals along with the coveted Goozex for trading and trying out titles. This reminds me of several years ago when the war was between Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. Well, considering I never played a game from Hollywood Video that wasn't scratched, maybe it wasn't much of a war after all. Read More...

A Better Buy?
by Kevin [ Monday, 10th of August 2009 - 02:05 PM ]
A very interesting tidbit came across my inbox this morning. At a Best Buy in Utah, there are some potentially devastating moves going on. Probably more of a test run than anything else. Best Buy is quoted on their in-store advertisement as saying, "Best Buy now price matches new video games at used prices from GameStop or Game Crazy." Thus far this has been the only store with such an ad reported, but the effects of this could be very far-reaching. Imagine just walking into a Best Buy with your GameStop weekly ad and utilizing the deal. Read More...
