Be The Center Of Attention Like Laugh Riot
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of February 2009 - 09:25 PM ]
DC Universe Character Trailer So far most of the buzz on Sony's DC Universe has been the named characters from DC comics that a player will be able to interact with or run along side. Outside of that and a few scene drops, nothing substantial has been seen since Comic Con 2008 where there was a playable demo there. Well a bit of wait is now over. Today the good people over at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) have decided to grace the interwebs with a bit more on the types of characters you can play in the game. Read More...

Screen Shots Set To Stun
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 24th of February 2009 - 06:11 PM ]
New Screens For Star Trek Online There has been some more screen shots released into the wild for our consumption for Cryptic's new game Star Trek Online. Nothing really all that ground breaking except for the fact that there are a few more shots that are not of the space scenes of the game. Something that has been kind of rare from the past shots that have snuck out into the wild. I am still kind of curious on exactly how this game will actually look during play. These shots, much like the ones in the past, look a lot like concept shots, but then you can also see how they could be shots from the game. Read More...

Space MMO Not Star Trek Or Star Wars
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of February 2009 - 09:20 PM ]
NASA Unveils New Online Game Given the fact that the American Space Program has been failing, at least when it comes to the government side of things, there has been little to no excitement about going up into space. I mean can you remember the last time we launched anything from our own country (America)? Most likely not. Most of the memorable launches have been either the ones that explode or the ones that do a first for space. Read More...

I Got Some Big Brother In My MMOs
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 16th of January 2009 - 10:29 PM ]
Online gamers in China must soon register with real names Before you think that we have it bad when it comes to privacy, take a look at things like this and think longer. It looks like the Chinese government is going to force gamers in the area to register with their real names. Not bad. But they must also provide their government issued code, think social security number for those in the states. All of this just to prove who you are and so you can play. Now here is the good question, why are they doing this? Read More...

End Of An Age
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 12th of January 2009 - 11:12 PM ]
Funcom to close over half of Conan servers Do you remember how about 10 months ago there was this game that was all the hype. I think it was called Age of Conan. Yea that's the one. The game that was plagued with a lot of build up and no pay off. Buggy as hell and pretty much done in a way that an MMO should not have been placed out there. Can you sense the upset from me? Well if you do, and if you are one of the few players that are still into the game, then it may sadden you to know that they are closing down 31 of their servers that gamers where once playing on. by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 6th of January 2009 - 06:16 PM ]
Earthrise Beta Sign Up So this was kind of an unheard of for me, but I looked into it and it looks pretty cool. What am I blathering about? Well another new MMO to try and steal your internet times called Earthrise. What exactly is it, well look below for their little blurb about their game. Earthrise is a post-apocalyptic science fiction MMORPG, set in the dark future of the planet Earth. The game is designed to run on the Windows operating system, and will be launching in 2009. So now you are probably asking what else is there about this game? Read More...

Japanese Man Arrested For Deleting Friends Near Max MMO Character
by Michael Camacho [ Monday, 6th of October 2008 - 04:58 PM ]
A Japanese man with an intent to use his friend's three and a half year old MMORPG character, is now being prosecuted for cyber-crimes in Japan for deleting said character. Both men are friends in real life and on the server, though I'd say now that they were friends at this point.  The guy who actually created the character was about to finally max out his character after the long three years plus journey, so when he found out all his hard work was deleted, he contacted the local police departments cyber crimes unit. When the friend was caught, the motive turned out to be simple jealousy than anything else, as he told police he just "Wanted his character." The perp is being charged with unauthorized access, but most likely should've been charged with criminal damage or theft. Read More...

Set Phasers To MMO
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 28th of July 2008 - 08:59 PM ]
Star Trek Online So I frequent the Cryptic Studios stuff now and again, forums and booths at conventions. Hell, on Saturday, I even went to their VIP party for City of Heroes players and Devs. Please don't ask how it was. But this was something that kind of caught me off guard. In fact, I didn't know it was under their belt until today when they turned on their interwebs for the game sit and posted screen shots. The game? Well the title said it, Star Trek Online. Warhammer Online Beginning to Look a Bit Grim
by Robert [ Sunday, 27th of July 2008 - 05:50 PM ]
The beta for Warhammer Online is beginning to look a little grim; with major content cutbacks that will affect the release I'm sure. This month Warhammer online took out FOUR major cities and FOUR classes... that is BIG. Warhammer Online is the upcoming major competitor for the reigning champion of MMO's, World of Warcraft and with a cut back this big it is either a really really good thing or a really really bad thing. With Age of Conan slowly (but trust me it's not at all yet) falling off a bit, Warhammer Online really needs to step it up and take advantage. The content cuts may be a good thing; maybe the developers realized they need to focus their manpower on a smaller amount of content, but at the same time that could be a bad sign... Read More...

Start PWNing Other Worlds
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 30th of April 2008 - 03:55 PM ]
Stargate Worlds Closed Beta Registration Now Open I liked the movie. There were a few good episodes of the show. I actually enjoyed playing the Table Top RPG game based on the world. So I'm actually kind of excited about this new MMO. Not sure if it will be able to addict me to MMOs, but it will get my cash when it launches. Just as it will get my time if I am chosen for the Beta. I say chosen just for the fact that the registration form doesn't ask for anything more than your connection speed. Read More...

Screenshots Released for CrimeCraft MMO
by Aaron BlueWolf72 Molloy [ Tuesday, 15th of April 2008 - 04:09 AM ]
Thanks to GamePolitics for this bit of news but I am looking forward for more news on this:   Looking very much like a massively multiplayer Grand Theft Auto clone, Vogster’s CrimeCraft has been slated for release in early 2009. While the official website offers little aside from a logo, some screenshots have been released. Also, there’s the CrimeCraft Wikipedia entry. With what will likely be thousands of players engaged in live, online GTA-like action, expect CrimeCraft to be controversial when it launches. Read More...

Age of Conan
by [ Sunday, 30th of March 2008 - 10:27 AM ]
In my humblest of opinions, MMORPGs are the single greatest genre in gaming. I consider myself to be quite the MMO-Connoisseur having played Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Everquest, Dark Ages of Camelot, Everquest 2, Final Fantasy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Naturally, I am awaiting the impending release of Age of Conan, but what kind of release will be in store for me? As players of the game know, Vanguard was nearly unplayable at release and for quite some time afterwards. Read More...
