The Obligatory 2017 Video Games Year In Review List
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 29th of December 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Video Games There were a lot of video games that came out in 2017 and we tried to review as many video games as we could. Here's a recap of them all The year is finally over and there were a lot of great video games that came out. There were also a lot of shitty ones in the mix as well. Just like every year, there were all over the place and we had a chance to give a good chunk of them all a play and thus a review. Hells, we even had more indie-based video games mixed in to add an extra level of interest here. It, of course, is not a list of all video games that came out this year but it is a list of what we had to experience over here in our little part of the world. Read More...

Review â Minecraft: Story Mode â Jailhouse Block
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 6th of December 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Minecraft We sit down and review Minecraft: Story Mode — Jailhouse Block. This is the third episode of Telltale's second take on Mojang's famed Minecraft franchise. Here's our review on how they did The story continues for Jesse and crew as the third episode of Minecraft: Story Mode is underway for us. It has been a weird ride for us yet again with this game and season, but here we go with yet one more episode in the mix. No doubt, this should be one of the ones that set things up for the future if it goes along the path of other Telltale Games' titles out there, but that could be in the next episode as well. Review â Call Of Duty: WWII
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 27th of November 2017 - 03:00 PM ]
Call Of Duty We sit down and review Call Of Duty: WWII. We are heading back to the Second World War again. Here's our review of Call Of Duty: WWII The next installment to the Call Of Duty franchise has dropped and looks to take us all back to the roots of the game. Sledgehammer Games and a few of the other developers in Activision's wheelhouse have opted to take us all the way back to World War II and give us all even more Nazis to kill in our video games. Not in an over-the-top satirical kind of way, but in a grounded more realistic kind of way. At least on that mirrors more of how things truly went down in real history. Read More...

Review â Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds
by Dakota B. Johnson [ Wednesday, 15th of November 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Horizon Zero Dawn We sit down and review Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Can you make The Cut? Here's our review of Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds I was really equal parts excited and worried about Horizon Zero Dawn’s new DLC. Would it be an overpriced cash grab for Guerrilla Games to scrape a few more pennies from fans, or a story that needed to be told that didn't fit with the flow and progression of the main game? I try not to delve into the main plots of games too much, but if you’re buying the DLC I am going to assume you have played Horizon Zero Dawn. So if you just want to know if I recommend it or not I’ll save you sometimes and say yes. Read More...

This Week In Video Games 9/25/17 â 9/29/17
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 29th of September 2017 - 07:00 PM ]
Video Games A lot has gone on this week in video games. Here is a recap of what we covered in the world of video games on the site this week This was an exciting week for video games now was it not? It started to feel like it was going to be all over the place and then it was, but it also brought with it a lot more on God Of War and Star Wars Battlefront II so we cannot really complain. Not only that, but there was all kinds of Resident Evil news for all of the consoles out there and the continued push for more on Wolfenstein II and The Evil Within 2. All kinds of twos this week but thankfully video games are well out of that terrible stage of existence now. Read More...

Review â Cuphead
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 29th of September 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Cuphead We sit down and review Cuphead. A new take on the classic platformer and artistic styles. Here is our review of Cuphead Here we go as Cuphead has finally made it to its release. A title that has garnered so much praise, excitement, and then upset over how gamers out there played the bit that was out there early. All kinds of fun in the gaming community here, but now is the time that we all get to sit back and see what all the hullabaloo for the game from StudioMDHR is all about. Well besides being a platformer using the artistic style of 1930's cartoons and such. Read More...

Review â Maize
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 12th of September 2017 - 03:00 PM ]
Night Trap We sit down and review Maize. An adventure game all about surviving a bunker full of sentient corn. Here is our review of this Maize Late last year we saw Maize release out there for the PC world and only had glimmers of hope for when it would be making its way over to the PS4 and Xbox One. We all knew it was coming but it wasn't until September 12th that Finish Line Games was able to get the game to make the leap on over. Or the crawl. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 1st of September 2017 - 07:00 PM ]
Video Games A lot has gone on this week in video games. Here is a recap of what we covered in the world of video games on the site this week Thus concludes our week of news and updates for our beloved video games. Another pretty solid week when you look at it all and we were able to play a bit of catch up with the reviews we keep promising you. We saw both Night Trap and Life Is Strange get those treatments this week while we were still wading through the new for other video games like Shadow Of War and Assassin’s Creed Origins. Not to mention the surprise addition of Dead Rising 4 the PS4 roster before the end of this year and a lot of great screenshots for Agony and God Of War. Read More...

Review â Life Is Strange: Before The Storm â Awake
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 31st of August 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Life Is Strange We sit down and review Life Is Strange: Before The Storm — Awake. This is the first episode of the prequel to Life Is Strange. Here is our review on how they did It has been a quick turnaround here for Life Is Strange: Before The Storm as it was first announced at E3 this year and now the first episode of the season has dropped on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC here on August 31st. For those who may have missed out on it so far, this is the prequel to the original episodic game that has Deck Nine Games telling the story of a different character that still has a huge impact on the whole story. I am talking Chloe Price here for Life Is Strange and the ever-missing Rachel Amber. Read More...

Review â Night Trap 25th Anniversary Edition
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 30th of August 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Night Trap We sit down and review Night Trap 25th Anniversary Edition. The Interactive Video ‘game’ that caused Senate Hearings is back. Here is our review of this Night Trap I remember so long ago spinning up, literally, Night Trap on my Uncle's Sega CD and giving the game a play. I also remember being yelled at later for playing such a "disgusting" game and then subsequently hearing all of the other horrible things about it. Now we are 25 years after that and we are getting a remaster of the game from Screaming Villains on the PC and PS4. Night Trap is one of the titles out there that was responsible for the ERSB being formed so it feels right to give the game a review and see what I may have missed so long ago and to see how it all holds up over the years. Review â Minecraft: Story Mode â Giant Consequences
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of August 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Minecraft We sit down and review Minecraft: Story Mode — Giant Consequences. This is the second episode of Telltale's second take on Mojang's famed Minecraft franchise. Here's our review on how they did The story continues as the second episode of Minecraft: Story Mode new season has released and is out there for those who want to take each with a bit of break in-between and not binge the whole thing. Giving yourself a break between each episode so you can reflect on what just happened seems to be the ongoing M.O. Read More...

Review â Agents Of Mayhem
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 15th of August 2017 - 03:00 PM ]
Agents Of Mayhem We sit down and review Agents Of Mayhem. It's a Saints Row spin-off that is looking for its own identity. Here's our review of Agents Of Mayhem The time is now and Agents Of Mayhem has released to bring us all another title in a shared universe for Volition's other titles that have made huge splashes out there. Of course, this is all set to a theme of Saturday morning cartoons and over the top heroes with a third-person action-adventure game slapped in for mechanics, so I'll let you start to figure out the parallels between them all. Or you can look at the Agents Of Mayhem marketing that Deep Silver has thrown out there to get a feel for it all a bit more with a definite 80s feel to the theme as well. Read More...

Review â Batman: The Enemy Within â The Enigma
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 11th of August 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Batman We sit down and review Batman: The Enemy Within — The Enigma. This is the first episode of Telltale's second take on the Batman franchise. Here's our review on how they did He we go with another trip into Gotham as the first episode of Batman: The Enemy Within has just dropped and is continuing the story mostly where we left off. That story being however you left Gotham after the events of the first time Telltale Games brought us this fun. All with the extra level of madness Batman usually brings out in the world and he is doing it in spades here yet again. Read More...

Review â Copoka
by Dakota B. Johnson [ Monday, 7th of August 2017 - 01:00 PM ]
Copoka We sit down and review Copoka. A little bird in a big world. Here's our review of Copoka Sometimes it is nice to play a game and just relax and that is what I was able to do with Copoka. No worry about a convoluted story or high impact action where you stick behind a wall while explosions happen every ten seconds. Copoka was even marketed as a “mellow open world exploration game.” This game is pretty short, but is also the length it needs to be to remain enjoyable. Read More...

Review â Minecraft: Story Mode â Hero In Residence
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 2nd of August 2017 - 05:00 PM ]
Minecraft We sit down and review Minecraft: Story Mode — Hero In Residence. This is the first episode of Telltale's second take on Mojang's famed Minecraft franchise. Here's our review on how they did It's time to kick off yet another season for Minecraft: Story Mode as the first episode has dropped on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices with it coming soon to the Switch. All of this is something you should have known by now, but none the less Telltale Games is back at it trying to give us a great story set in the universe that Mojang has crafted that only has stories if we so define them. At least that has always been my takeaway for Minecraft before now and enjoy seeing it through the lens of another. Read More...
