Here we go with another of those whacky announcements from SEGA with HYENAS being the next title that they are getting out there to the world. More Creative Assembly, since they are the true minds behind it all, but that does not change the base fact that we have a game coming with this name. Before you think it is going to be some kind of animal simulator with a name like HYENAS, let us place it out there that it is a Sci-Fi multiplayer FPS title for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. No recreating some of those dark scenes from Disney movies for you with this one. Well, at least not in any easy way you can think of off the top of your head right now.
Now that we have all of that aside, HYENAS will take us into a future setting where Mars billionaires seem to want to hoard all of the good artifacts from history and we are setting out to go "reclaim" them for them. While the rest of the human race tries to figure out how to survive, we and our squad of five will head out to steal these items from other teams so we can fetch a solid price for them from our benefactor. More or less, HYENAS sounds like a squad-based game of capture the flag with two other factions trying to do the same thing. All in a hyper-stylized future and with zero-gravity environments to keep things spicy along the way. It looks as bonkers as it all sounds. Earth is gone, the rich have colonized Mars and the rest of humanity is living their worst life in The Taint, a giant orbiting slum. While humanity is trying to survive, the Mars billionaires are more worried about fulfilling their nostalgic dreams. Plunder ships, massive retail spacecrafts dedicated to selling salvaged pop-culture artifacts from Earth, our artifacts, at space-high prices to satisfy their desires.
We, an unlikely pack of talented robbers, hit the Mars elite where it hurts most: their stuff A.K.A. OUR stuff. They call us 'HYENAS'.
We get in, empty some clips into their security clones and other “preventative measures”, steal all the best stuff then get out. Exploding a clone in zero gravity is kind of messy, but as long as we make it out with the merch it’s worth it.
