Circus Electrique Breaks Down Some Of The Upcoming Gameplay For Us All

Circus Electrique

New gameplay for Circus Electrique gets us all up to speed with the mechanics of Circus Electrique just before it gets ready to launch this year

Those looking to head into a dark and steampunk version of London can finally kick back and get a small look at how that will go in Circus Electrique. This is the RPG that Zen Studios announced a little while back but did not offer up much more than the setting and that the game was on the way to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC when it was finally ready. A timeline that places Circus Electrique as being ready sometime this year. All of that aside, now we can dive into more of the gameplay and just what to expect from this RPG that is going to give some nightmares and others happy dreams of saving the world with our class of Circus performers placed into an insane place in life.

From the start, Circus Electrique looks to be a traditional turn-based RPG system with up to fifteen different classes for us to pick up along the way. Classes that will range over the various roles in a traditional circus out there with Strongmen, Healing Clowns, Acrobats, and Fire Breathers to name a few. They will all group up in teams of four to take on the citizens that have been driven crazy by The Maddening. This is where the four-on-four combat will take place with each of our characters having various skills to use. Some of which are based on character placement in the roster. It looks like one of the core mechanics we will need to be aware of in Circus Electrique is how we shift characters around to better optimize their attacks and defenses.

Speaking of defenses, Circus Electrique will house the usual ones in the game and also make us focus on healing along the way. On top of that, we will need to manage each character's morale of sorts to make sure they are at their best performance in the game. This is in the way of a loyalty meter that will also dictate how often and how hard their attacks and skills hit. If it gets too low, though, they might also just leave the Circus Electrique and lead to an imbalance in the team and crew overall. It is an interesting take to keep it as its own meter in the game, but from the following footage, it looks like it can be a fun one to add to the mix. Not to mention that we will need to watch this and manage the core circus in the mix of all of the madness out there.
