Resident Evil

Resident Evil fans can rejoice with the official announcement for the Resident Evil 4 remake coming next year

It has been more or less confirmed that we were going to be seeing a true Resident Evil 4 remake with all of the others out there and the latest VR update for the classic version. Now, during the PlayStation State of play, not only did Capcom confirm it was actually happening but that it is also going to be hitting the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 24th of 2023. Thank the gods that we did not just get a tease for this version of Resident Evil 4 and then a splash screen of coming soon. Even if we did just end up getting a solid teaser as to how this new version of the game is going to look out there when it does finally come to us all.

Obviously, this new version of Resident Evil 4 is going to carry on along the same pattern that the previous remakes have gone with. That being that we will see the true next-gen visuals with the RE Engine at work to bring the characters and world to life in a way that we only held in our imaginations before. The game will also be keeping the core third-person camera that has been popular with the IP since the original Resident Evil 4 changed things up in 2005. Outside of that, it just looks like everything is getting a facelift and keeping the core story of the president's daughter being kidnapped a few years after the zombie outbreaks in the last three titles. Let us all just hope that we are not going to have to escort Ashley around the same way as last time. That or they used the same ideas from other games that have escort missions, and make her useful in the mix of it all. Have a look at the announcement just a bit lower to get the full scope of what is definitely coming to us all.

Resident Evil 4 — Remake Announcement

During the PlayStation State of Play digital event, Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced Resident Evil 4, a remake of the original Resident Evil 4 released in 2005. Reawakened for 2023, Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original while using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics. Resident Evil 4 is scheduled to release on March 24, 2023, for PlayStation 5 console, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

As a title that set the standard for the later Resident Evil franchise, the original Resident Evil 4 introduced the Third-Person-Camera to the long-running series, which has shipped over 125 million units worldwide since the first title debuted in 1996. This new perspective brought players into the action and horrors encountered by protagonist Leon S. Kennedy during his daring rescue mission.

Resident Evil 4 joins Leon S. Kennedy six years after his hellish experiences in the biological disaster of Raccoon City. His unmatched resolve caused him to be recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president of the United States. With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is dispatched to rescue the president’s recently kidnapped daughter. Leon tracks her to a secluded European village, however, after making first contact he discovers a fervor beyond reason that grips the local populace.

Now, this reimagined tale of survival in the face of overwhelming terror returns to deliver a visually stunning modern gaming experience that is true to the promise of the original release. Many team members from the production of 2019’s top-selling and critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 also make their return to delve deeper into the essence of Resident Evil 4. Fans and newcomers alike can revel in both the new and familiar, as RE Engine heightens the original’s creative direction to tell a story that is darker and even more unsettling.
