Sifu
Sifu will be getting a physical edition now to allow for more customer styles just as Sifu will offer for Kung Fu styles
Those that were worried that they would not be able to score a physical edition for Sifu can now put those worries to bed. It looks like Sloclap has heard and seen you. There will now be a physical edition of Sifu out there this coming Spring for the PS4, PS5, and PC. All so you can add another disk to the growing counts out there and physically own your video games instead of hoping that the servers and content always stay online if you need to delete the game from your library for some reason. That is the only real reason I can see for the want of having the physical media anymore. At least, that is the excuse I always give for wanting to have the disc in hand. Even if I need to wait a little longer to be able to do so.
Thankfully, with Sifu still launching on February 8th, the Spring release window for this is not too far down the line to get the title out there. My guess is that it will be the wait it takes to get all of the discs burned, packaged, and shipped out. So, maybe by March 8th gamers might be able to see Sifu in their physical collection of titles. Although, this might be one that you will want to just have the physical backup down the line after picking it up in the digital form on the release date. It does look like it could be one of those sleeper hits that many have been passing over for now. The gameplay and action have caught my eye and I do not think I will be able to wait the extra time to get in on it all.
Sifu — Retail Versions Announcement
Featuring the gripping intensity of classic Kung Fu films with realistic and raw combat, Sifu tells the story of a young Kung Fu student who has spent their life training for a day of reckoning after the brutal murder of their entire family by a mysterious assassination squad.
Sifu’s unique gameplay sits in the crossroads of two established and popular genres, mashing the intensity and timeless thrill of beat em ups with the gripping design of 3D action games. Set against a detailed backdrop of a fictional Chinese city, you will uncover an ancient mystery via a series of difficult confrontations that will test your skills to their limit. To overcome the odds that are heavily stacked against you, you’ll need to rely on your mastery of Kung Fu, and on a magical pendant that will revive you after death. The cost of magic is dear, however, and you will age significantly every time you come back to life: time is the price you will pay for your revenge.
The game’s exquisitely hand-drawn art style pays tribute to Kung Fu film classics where themes of revenge and redemption are timeless tales, all perfectly blending with Sloclap’s martial arts gameplay expertise. Sifu offers a unique approach to martial arts, themes of vengeance, and redemption to create a distinct single-player Kung Fu experience, making this game a true initiatory journey.
Which version of Sifu will you be picking up here? Do you think that it will take about a month to be able to get the game out in a physical form or will it be pushed to near the end of Spring for some reason? Will you be able to hold out for the physical version or will you cave and get the game digitally when it launches out there? Tell us all of those thoughts on this and much more down in the comments. As more for Sifu drops out there, know that we will drop it on the site for you. Please keep checking back for all of that and much more as we head into 2022 and all that it has to offer up. It has to be better than we have had for the last half a decade, right?
