Sonic
Sonic the Hedgehog is running back to us in a new game, Sonic Frontiers, and it looks a little more open than before
Next holiday season, we are going to have a whole lot to look forward to and now is the time to add Sonic Frontiers to the list of titles to try to add to our collections then. Sure, that is a whole year away from now, but that does not mean we cannot be excited to see that Sonic Team and SEGA are hard at work to bring us another title in the line. A title that looks to place Sonic in a new kind of setting that many are not used to him being in when it comes to a solo title. It looks like this one might be a new open-world style game for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC when it does finally land out there. It is time to get all of those hype trains running now.
Sadly, that is only something we are speculating on as of right now based on the Sonic Frontiers announcement we have. In terms of the game being open world as the rest is more or less spelled out here. The reason we are looking at an open-world idea comes from the broad and open landscapes shown in the trailer here and the look that has Sonic taking in the lands before what we could assume is gameplay of him taking to the ground running. All on Starfall Islands will house all of the various landscapes and locales that we have grown accustomed to over the years for the IP. It may be a little odd to go about the game in this style, but when it comes to getting a title as we have never seen for this character, it is the safer bet than thinking we are going to have a psychological horror game that features the little guy here. Have a look and see if you agree with our assumption.
Sonic Frontiers — Announcement
Sonic Team presents…Sonic Frontiers, arriving Holiday 2022!
An experience like never before, accelerate to new heights and experience the thrill of high velocity, open-zone freedom. Battle powerful enemies as you speed through the Starfall Islands - landscapes brimming with dense forests, overflowing waterfalls, sizzling deserts, and more!
Do you think an open-world adventure game would work well for Sonic or do you like the running and platforming aspect of the IP only? Would you want to see a vastly different genre for the character here or will that lose most of the fan base if they did so? Who do you think will be the bigger threat out in the world here and will it be a completely new threat in general? Let everyone out there know what you are thinking down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. More for Sonic Frontiers is on the way, so be sure to keep watching the site for it all. Maybe we will even have some true gameplay to look at and not just some short fly-by footage to show off the lands.
