Gord Will Be Taking Us Into A New Dark Fantasy Adventure World

Gord

A new announcement is here for Gord with Gord bringing us a new City-Builder & Adventure set in a very dark fantasy world

It does feel like we have been getting a whole lot of new titles out there using the massive Slavic folklore out there, and now we can add the announcement of Gord to the growing list of those titles. A title that is coming from Covenant and heading to the PC in 2022, but it is another title to add to the list to keep an eye on. More so, when you take in the fact that Gord will be giving us a massive dark fantasy world with the gameplay of a city-builder, strategy, and adventure genres mixed together. Now that is a growing list of things to toss in there if you want to overlook the mix of survival elements too.

If that sounds like a whole lot to take in for the game, it is, but we have a nice look at how Gord could be blending all of these ideas into a title that could have it all for us. All as a kind of progression from the looks of it, as it looks like we start out as normal settlers out to grow our Gord into a full fortress we have to manage. Something we will manage by taking some of our people out into the world to vanquish some of the evils out there and gather some resources to work from. All with some procedurally generated areas and encounters to keep things fresh too. Obviously, with the bigger selling point of the dark fantasy world and creatures mixed in. Have a look at the basics we have to see and get ready to see this one grow into something much more massive.

Gord — Announcement

Covenant, a new Polish game development studio founded by former CD Projekt RED and 11-bit studios producer Stan Just, is thrilled to announce its first game. Gord is a single-player, adventure strategy title set in a grim fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore. The unique survival, quest, and city-builder elements will keep players on their toes as they play through the procedurally generated scenarios. Gord will be available on PC and is launching in 2022.

Gord is a single-player, adventure strategy game featuring developing societies, eerie forbidden lands, and remarkable mythical creatures. Players complete quests and manage a populace whose personal stories and well-being impact the fate of the settlement.

Key features:

  • Adventure Strategy In A Dark Fantasy Setting — Lead the people of the Tribe of the Dawn as they venture deep into forbidden lands and ensure the survival of your populace in a grim fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore.
  • A Unique City-Builder With Survival Elements — Grow your gord from a humble settlement to a formidable fortress while your population is constantly at risk from enemy tribes, gruesome monsters, and mysterious powers that lurk in the surrounding woods.
  • AI-Driven Quest System To Ensure Lots Of Variety — Side quests and random encounters will send you off into the wilderness to hunt down legendary creatures, uncover secrets about the Ancients, or vanquish a nasty scourge.
  • Custom Scenarios With Procedural Level Generation — Choose from a variety of primary objectives, select the level size, the intensity of raids, the environment you’ll play in, the types of enemies you’ll face, starting resources, and even the severity of the weather.
  • Impactful Sanity & Burden Systems — Every aspect of your settlers’ lives — from illness and hunger to the death of their kin — can impact your villagers' psychological state.
  • Unleash Powerful Incantations — Spells vary in nature — some are offensive while others are defensive — but they all help to tip the battlefield in your favor.
  • Uncover The World’s Mysteries In The Chronicle — Pages torn from The Chronicle will be scattered throughout the game’s landscapes, giving dedicated players an additional challenge of discovering lore that explains the Gord universe.

Does it feel like Gord might be having a little too much going on in the game here or will it flow smoothly between it all along the way? Do you think we will be able to deviate from the city-building and go on all of the adventures or will it need to be a fine balance between it all at some point? Does it feel like these folklores are flooding out there more or is it just the perceptions based on how the others have done over the years? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. If there is more to share for Gord, and we know there will be, we will have it all here for you. Just be sure to keep checking back for all of that and much more.
