Watch Dogs
The online update for Watch Dogs: Legion has been delayed out to next year to make the multiplayer Watch Dogs fun a bit better
If you were hoping to be playing Watch Dogs: Legion online next month, then get ready for a little bit of disappointment to come your way. It looks like Ubisoft will not be able to get that update to us all next month as planned and we will have to wait until 2021 to see it go live. When in 2021? Well, that is still up in the air for now but just know it will be hitting Watch Dogs: Legion then now. My best guess would be earlier in the year rather than later, but that is just a guess and there is not much to base that on. Mainly just based on the fact that they want it out there before the DLC starts dropping and that would be the best time for them to give it all to us.
As for the reasons why we are seeing this delay, the short answer is that they are still working on making Watch Dogs: Legion the best version of its self in the single-player mode. Something that makes perfect sense as that is the big selling point currently for the game and all of the new platforms out there we can experience it on. That and the Watch Dogs games, while fitting for the setting, feel like they play better as a standalone game for us. That is my opinion and you may think I am wrong, but this is how it is for me. Maybe that will change when the update does finally hit us all, but for now, we all will have to stick to some solo play instead of online.
Patch Update Regarding Watch Dogs: Legion And Announcement For The Online Mode
Since the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion, some of you continue to have technical issues preventing you from enjoying the game. The dev team is committed to fixing these issues and will not stop until everyone can experience the game as intended.
As an immediate next step, this week, we are releasing Update 2.20 to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Stadia. The update will add a manual Save Game button to PC, as well as bring further stability improvements for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PlayStation 4.
As part of our commitment to fixing the game’s issues, we’ve decided to delay the Online mode of Watch Dogs: Legion to early 2021. This will allow us to focus on fixing issues with single player, and it will give us more time to test the Online experience to help ensure a smooth launch of the mode.
As mentioned in our latest State of the Game, we have more improvement and quality of life features in store next month, including more stability improvements and further graphics optimizations for PC to reach our goal of consistent 60FPS for higher-end GPUs.
Watch Dogs: Legion has been an incredible journey for us, and our teams are working very hard to make it the best experience it can be. We are blown away by your continued support, the fan art, the incredible cosplays, and the many, many screenshots, videos, and streams we have seen. Thank you!
Are you let down that you will not be seeing an online mode for Watch Dogs here before the end of the year, or do you want it to be a smooth transition and think they should take the time needed? How do you feel about the multiplayer we have seen in the franchise before and will it be much better in this game? Do you think we will see this update in January next year and not as late as March? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all as you wish. If we find more to share for Watch Dogs: Legion, you know we will share it all here. Just be certain to keep checking in for all of that and much more.
