Zombieland
A new film tie-in for Zombieland 2 is on the way as we have Zombieland: Double Tap — Road Trip announced for us all
It looks as if we have a new movie tie-in game coming at us, as it has been announced that Zombieland: Double Tap — Road Trip is going to be a thing just before the release of the new film. Start the rejoicing or the groans depending on how you feel about film tie-in games. This one is coming from High Voltage, though, and looks to give us the twin-stick shooter we may have always wanted for the Zombieland franchise since the film came out a decade ago. I can think of other ways it would work better, but we will get to see how this one pans out on October 15th when it hits the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
Outside of this being a twin-stick shooter in the Zombieland universe, we do have a few more details and visuals to take in too. As it looks, we will get to play a bit of what happened after the first film and just before the second film in terms of story. We will also have the chance to unlock characters from the new film on top of some of the new characters that are still to come. All in a campaign mode of sorts and the normal bells and whistles for the type of game this is. Seems like it could be a bit on the spoiler side of things when you look at what is being offered up from Zombieland 2 here. I guess we will get to see soon.
Zombieland: Double Tap — Road Trip — a new video game inspired by the story, characters, humor and horror of Sony Pictures’ original hit film Zombieland and its sequel, Zombieland 2: Double Tap, arriving in theaters on Oct. 18, 2019 — was announced today. Developed by High Voltage Software, the game will launch on Oct. 15, 2019, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. The game is published by GameMill Entertainment, Minneapolis, MN.
Set after the events of the first movie, Zombieland: Double Tap — Road Trip is a ridiculously fun top-down twin-stick shooter featuring local co-op multiplayer for up to four players. Play as your favorite heroes from the original — Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock — as well as new unlockable characters from the upcoming sequel.
Use your special abilities, an arsenal of weapons and the essential Zombieland rules for survival to stay alive against huge numbers of uniquely grotesque and dangerous undead monstrosities in Zombieland: Double Tap — Road Trip’s story-based campaign mode, wave-based horde mode, and ongoing daily and weekly challenges.
Did you expect to see a game based on Zombieland at some point or does it seem a bit far out for now? Is going with a twin-stick shooter the best way to go or do you think it could have done better going a different path? How much of the film's story do you think it will spoil or will we be mostly safe as we were with past film tie-in titles? Let us know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. I hope we will have more to share for Zombieland: Double Tap — Road Trip and when we do, it will be up on the site as soon as we can get it up. Just be sure to keep checking in for all of that and much, much more.
